Ugly Girl is a webcomic by Sylvia ThatNanda. The main character, Ugly Girl, is a high school student who sometime around the 7th grade was decided to be a "ugly girl" by another more popular classmate everyone else to agreed and the name stuck. Though years have past gloomy, cynical Ugly Girl still coming to terms with what that means all the while attempting to survive high school.

Tropes used in Ugly Girl include:

• Alpha Bitch: "That stuck-up bitch"
• Art Evolution: In comparison to earlier comics the newer strips are much more colorful, more detailed, and smoother looking
• Camp Gay: They don't call him Queerboy for nothing.
• Coming Out Story: Cynical Sis comes out of the closet to Queerboy and his boyfriend
• Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": No one except for Cynical's best friend Tilde has a give name outside of being Ugly Girl, Sister Person, Queerboy etc.
• Cast of Snowflakes: Each character even those who are just background each have a unique appearance.
• Dances and Balls: The school dance was the comics first major arc.
• Deadpan Snarker: Almost everyone but Ugly Girl and Cynical Sis take the cake.
• Girlish Pigtails: Ugly has these up until her Important Haircut
• Important Haircut: After the disaster that the dance Ugly cuts off her her Girlish Pigtails in now has short hair
• June September Romance: Queerboy and his boyfriend Ric is one of these.
• Schedule Slip: Comic originally updated about once a week (or at least every two) but then dropped off to once/twice a month for about three months before stopping from September 2009 to April 2010. It returned to a once a week (or every two) schedule for May then back to once/twice a month again, the last comic was in July 2010. The artist's deviantart account has not updated since then and the comic's site had a art piece added in December 2010 but outside of that and a comment from her about the update there's been no contact from the artist (who is busy with life). The comic is considered dead.
