Your new proposed change to Mind Control University/Characters has been rejected in Moderation, and you are now tempbanned

The change has been rejected for the same reasons that the last one was.

Since you are incapable of learning from your mistakes, and you lied to a moderator the last time you were called on your actions, you are now temporarily banned from editing the wiki. Since this is not your first tempban, you are banned from editing the wiki for a month.

If you intend to continue editing after the ban expires, please read and follow All The Tropes:Style Guide before you edit again.

... way too many weeks after it was submitted, for which we apologize. It's been rejected because of a mix of sloppy editing (including a new trope basically appended to the end of the one before it) and because the Visual Editor mangled the page thoroughly. If you could please resubmit your changes through the Source Editor, we can avoid the latter problem and with luck approve your edit much faster.

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

yes i will i am new to editing

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

No, you're not. Stop wasting our time with that. In addition to being no excuse, it's an outright gods-be-damned lie. The wiki keeps complete records of every edit you have ever made, and there have been nearly 150 of them, over a bit more than four years. That works out to about 1 edit every 11 days since late 2019. Don't expect us to believe such a claim or excuse crappy edits because of it.

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

all right. what was wrong with my recent edits

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

they had good grammer

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Why bother telling you again when you won't listen to us anyway?

Thank you for your contributions to Mind Control University/Characters...

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

... but please take a moment to examine the changes I made to them. Your additions were lacking proper bullet markup, showed a random capitalization that was more appropriate for German than English, was missing some key punctuation, and in a couple cases was grammatically iffy; I have corrected all these. If you could avoid these problems in any future contributions we'd be very grateful -- the more time we admins have to spend proofreading and correcting new material, the less time we have for managing and improving the wiki.

Thank you!

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

sorry my grammers known for being sloppy

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Your most recent contributions have shown vast improvement! Thank you!

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

...but you're backsliding already. I've had to fix markup, spelling, grammar, and more random capitalization errors in your most recent contributions. Please take a moment to look at how other contributions are written and try to match them.

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

sorry Grammer was never my strong suite

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

It's not just your grammar -- your contributions are rife with so many errors that I have to ask, are you a native speaker of English?

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

yes i am a native English Speaker.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Might I suggest a few things? Look closely at how other people write sentences in English, either here or elsewhere. Pick up a random magazine or book, maybe. And compare how you write to how they write. If your browser offers in-line spellchecking, pay attention to it. If you are young enough, consult an English teacher or professor. It is really very easy to get better at expressing yourself; you don't need to come across sounding like a functional illiterate.

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

ok i will

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

@ Eeveegirl, when a moderator gives you grammar advice, we expect that you'll act on it before editing here again. I'm not going to approve or reject your most recent change; I'll let @Looney Toons compare it to your earlier edits first.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Well, the grammar is good, yes. In fact, the passage is so well-written that it doesn't sound like Eeveegirl wrote it, although it is a bit repetitious. As you noted, it's lacking proper capitalization at the start of each sentence, and the final sentence is missing necessary punctuation, too, but I don't think that's enough to reject it. I'll approve it and make the needed fixes.

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

but i did. the grammer is fine

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

The capitalization, however, is not. And you continue to misspell the word "grammar".

Your new page "Unicorn Wars" has been approved in Moderation...

... but it required quite a bit of editing to turn it into something actually readable. Most importantly, tropes need bullet markup, otherwise the list becomes a single block of unreadable text. Further, your grammar and spelling continue to be execrable. Compare what you dumped into the wiki with what a properly constructed version looks like.

Be warned: This will be the last time the moderation staff accepts a substandard contribution from you and puts in the work to bring it up to minimally acceptable.

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

I’m sorry I’m new to editing and making pages. It’s my fault

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

... How can you be new to editing when you've been a wiki member for four years, with a hundred or so edits under your belt?

Eeveegirl (talkcontribs)

i only have a few edits. i do not edit the wiki as much as some

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

No, as of today you have made one hundred and forty edits to the wiki, that at least have passed Moderation. We can see every edit you've made, in a nice big list. You can't claim inexperience with that many edits.
