  • Complete Monster: Jean Cloche is a pretty good example, having effectively doomed the mainland of Japan during the second timeskip.
  • Funny Aneurysm Moment: There's a high-tech facility in Japan involved in something potentially very dangerous but nonetheless indispensible to modern society. Then the facility is wrecked by an earthquake, causing an uncontrollable release of something very, very bad.
  • High Octane Nightmare Fuel: In plentiful supply.
    • Yeah, like the beginning of the second outbreak. Just imagine you being saved in a lockdown building from tentacled monster, that grows before your eyes, by a bunch of soldiers, and few hours later, the same soldiers come back to BURN YOU ALIVE for witnessing it.
    • The name Bio Meat should tell you all you need to know about the genre of this series. This ain't no Lucky Star, this ain't no Ichigo Mashimaro, this ain't no foolin' around...
    • The titular Bio Meat themselves are even more nightmarish when you study their teeth: they have no fangs, no sharp teeth of any kind, really. While they have More Teeth Than the Osmond Family, their teeth are 100% molars. This means that they can't bite off a chunk of their food like most predators. Instead, they just latch on and chew... and chew... and chew... Worse is the fact that most victims don't seem to notice the Bio Meat until it's already latched on and chewing. At one point, two characters have a rather intellectual conversation while being swiftly devoured.
  • Ugly Cute: The Bio-Meat are actually kind of cuddly, especially compared to several hideously ugly human characters. Until you turn them over and see their undersides, that is.
