Compressed Hair/Playing With
Basic Trope: Hiding a character's distinctive hair under their headgear despite the difficulty of doing so.
- Straight: Farah has long, thick red hair that she normally wears in a ponytail. She's later revealed to be none other than the heroic Knight of Dawn, who wears a golden helmet.
- Exaggerated: Celina has extremely long, frost-blue hair with white and silver streaks. She is also secretly the Phantom Thief After-Illusion, who hides her idenity with a Cool Mask, Nice Hat and a short black wig.
- Justified:
- Hammerspace hats/helmets.
- Farah is capable of magically changing her hair's length. When she takes off the helmet she transforms it from a practical bob to its original style.
- Inverted: Princess Velvet is known for her luxuriously long violet Princess Curls; unbeknownst to all, however, her signature hairstyle is actually a wig -- she's secretly cut her real hair into a simple, short bob so that she can conceal her identity easier when working outside the castle.
- Subverted: When Farah unmasks, it's shown that she got an Important Haircut in order to hide her identity as the Knight of Dawn.
- Double Subverted: ...At least, it looks like her hair was shorter. Until she does a Hair Flip and shakes it loose, with the Hand Wave that she'd somehow tucked and styled it so that it fit into her helmet better (and just appeared to be shorter).
- Parodied: Celina disguises herself with a pair of Cool Shades and a bald cap; all she all to do is whip off the former, and the latter vanishes while her hair dramatically unfolds and ripples around her.
- Deconstructed: ???

- Zig Zagged: Farah, Celina and Velvet all appear in the same series, with Farah playing it straight, Celina going to the exaggerated extreme, and Velvet inverting it. Celina is later forced to get an Important Haircut and Dye or Die thanks to accidentally leaving strands of her hair behind during a robbery; meanwhile, Farah grows her hair out longer without having to change her method.
- Averted: Farah modifies her helmet by either lengthening it so that she can fit all of her hair inside, or making a place to thread her ponytail through.
- Enforced: The author really wants that big, dramatic reveal for the Knight of Dawn, but likes Farah's hairstyle too much to alter it.
- Lampshaded: Upon The Reveal, Hiro's Jaw Drops: "How did you fit all that hair in there?!"
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Farah uses this as part of her denial. When accused of being the Knight of Dawn she tugs on her hair and states that she wouldn't be able to get it under a helmet that size. She has a different way to manage it in reality.
- Defied: Farrah tries to fit it under the helmet but gives up and lets her hair flow out from the back, unbound because the ponytail would look too obviously female. This becomes an iconic part of the costume.

- Played For Laughs: Celina thinks she's a Master of Disguise, but it's really a Paper-Thin Disguise. When she goes for the big, dramatic reveal, her hair explodes into a Funny Afro, and she goes into a Heroic BSOD over her horrific case of hat hair.
