Basic Trope: A party member who leaves the party before the end of the game.
- Played Straight: The Damsel in Distress Olivia briefly follows around The White Prince Hiro, before he gets Lance, Dennis, Marcy, and Claudia.
- Exaggerated:
- There are quite a few -
- SWAD (Special Weapons Attack Droid) coming late game and usually One-Hit Kills every enemy.
- Alfonse, next door neighbour and childhood friend, who rarely does damage, and comes at the start of the game.
- Alfonse's brother Maurice, who will usually do 1 damage, at the start of the game.
- Mysterous the prophet, who can use magic and does a lot of damage.
- Olivia who does normal damage and comes in an early dungeon.
- Morrison the tour guide in the desert area, who can do quite high damage consider how early in the game it is.
- Justified: The party members all have justified reasons for leaving.
- Inverted: You can avoid party members joining, but they join permanently.
- Subverted: The guest stars come back...
- Double Subverted: ...and leave again.
- Averted: Everyone joins permanently.
