Honkai Impact 3rd/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

These things about Honkai Impact 3rd are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Base Breaker: Otto Apocalypse, especially after Chapter 28 and "Thus Spoke Apocalypse". A megalomaniac who's done so much harm to humanity over the centuries, selfishly throwing many under the bus for the sake of one and being directly responsible for the betrayal and death of multiple named characters, that the good side effects along the way don't compensate adequately for the bad? Or an admirable Determinator who has sacrificed so much for another in pursuit of Atonement and, for all the harm he's done, also did a lot of good advancing and protecting humanity as to repay his wrongs?
  • Demonic Spiders: Cyclones are mecha armed with Gatlings. Individually each shot is not that potent, but there is More Dakka, and getting hit causes the buildup of a stun meter that will lock the victim in place if filled, leaving her a sitting duck. They become especially annoying in the Elysian Realm, where they can make the buffs from the Signets of Vicissitude vanish very fast.
  • Fan Dumb:
    • There are portions of the playerbase that react very badly to any suggestion of adding (more) male playable characters.
    • One maniac from the Chinese playerbase actually went to MiHoYo HQ armed and apparently out for blood in response to an official music video of the characters dancing in bunnysuits.
  • Goddamned Bats:
    • Kijo Ninjas teleport away whenever attacked if they're not recovering from making an attack or have not had their shields depleted. They aren't particularly powerful, but this ability is an annoying time-waster, especially when they appear in Timed Missions.
    • The entire class of Imaginary-type enemies. Destroying one merely exposes the inner Nihilus Seed or Puppet Core, and while the enemy is harmless in this state, that in turn also needs to be destroyed before the enemy is actually destroyed. Fail to do so in time and the outer form will regenerate and become a threat once more. There are almost no player-usable attacks that can damage both outer and inner forms together.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • The second part of the "Outworld Traveler" collaboration event with Genshin Impact in version 4.9 involves the protagonist battling with the help of Yae to defeat a lightning-wielding dictator who has had a puppet duplicate of herself made. This is very similar to what the plot of the Inazuma arc in Genshin would turn out to be.
    • In Chapter 3, Kiana has the idea to explain away Anti-Entropy's ability to find Durandal by saying that they happened to bump into each other while the former was on holiday. Despite the others' concerns, it actually works. Come Chapter 28, which reveals/confirms that Durandal is the original Kiana, one's left wondering if Mihoyo was planning years in advance for K-423 to inadvertently know what would best fool herself.
  • That One Boss: Elysia. Between a massive number of Multiple Life Bars, attacks that come from multiple vectors to catch players off guard, and various ways to stun, slow and otherwise debuff, she's a shit cherry on top of an Elysian Realm run.
