- Bait and Switch Boss: Morpho Knight replaces Galacta Knight at the end of "Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!"
- Beam-O-War: Kirby on the Star Allies Sparkler against Void Termina at the end of Story Mode.
- The Dev Team Thinks of Everything: If you somehow have all your friends down when you beat Void Termina in Story Mode, you'll trigger an alternate version of the ending cutscene "Star Allies: Return From Afar" with different animations for there being only one Kirby and no-one else.
- Glass Cannon: Adeleine & Ribbon have the single lowest maximum health of all playable characters in the game, made up for by their diverse moveset and healing ability.
- Gonk: Hyness is revealed to be one once his hood is blown clean off and he Turns Red.
- Heel Face Brainwashing: With Friend Hearts, Kirby can turn his enemies into friends and also cure his friends of being Brainwashed and Crazy. At the end of Heroes in Another Dimension, he even befriends the three Mage-Sisters, who were working for the Big Bad, Hyness, as well as Hyness himself.
- My Death Is Just the Beginning: Hyness sacrifices himself and his generals to the Jamba Heart near the end of the game to break Void Termina out of it. Despite this, Void Termina isn't at all harmed when they're ejected from his body halfway through the battle, and he even grows wings and becomes much stronger. Although they're never seen again in Story Mode, Hyness and the mages weren't even dead to begin with, and they eventually do get better as shown in the extra game mode "Heroes in Another Dimension".
- Power Copying: As always, Kirby can inhale enemies to copy their abilities. He can even eat his friends!
- Reality Ensues: The food King Dedede stole has gone rotten from not being stored properly, and it even poisons Kirby if he tries to eat it - if it isn't rinsed with water before consumption.
- Suspicious Videogame Generosity: Soul Melter EX has stronger healing items in the waiting room than Soul Melter, breaking the trend of having weaker healing items for every higher difficulty of The Ultimate Choice. The same goes for the max health.
- True Final Boss: Void Soul, the harder version of Void Termina's fourth phase, in the Soul Melter difficulty of The Ultimate Choice. In Soul Melter EX, Void replaces Void Soul as the final boss.
- Unreadably Fast Text: Hyness's long rant when Kirby meets him at the altar.
