• Acceptable Targets: People everywhere just love to hate this company, as well as the people who eat there.
• And the Fandom Rejoiced: Some McDonald's locations have started running a "Breakfast After Midnight" promotion where items from the breakfast menu are available to order after 12:00 AM. For fans of McDonald's breakfast menu who work afternoons or nights, this was cause to celebrate.

• Fandom Rivalry: Ronald McDonald and The Burger King.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The McRib is a popular sandwich with a cult following, but in most countries that serve it, it is only served periodically. In Germany, meanwhile, the McRib is so popular, it's the only country to serve the sandwich year round.
• Heartwarming Moments: In this ad from the 1980s, Birdie is having a hard time learning how to fly. Just when she's feeling to discouraged to try anymore, Ronald says "Try once more! Do it for me!" Her other friends give her encouragement, too, and through the Power of Friendship, Birdie is able to fly!
  • I give it to the famous Ice Skating commercial.
  • One of its slogans was a CMOA: "We love to see you smile."
• Memetic Molester: "I'm no stranger, I'm Ronald McDonald!" Stephen King must have seen this commercial before he wrote IT.
• Memetic Mutation: Some Japanese commercials for Donald McDonald (as he is called in Japan due to a lack of a true R sound in the Japanese Language) have undergone this due to his "RAN RAN RUU!" Catch Phrase. [1]
  • This has of course lead to horrifying Stupid Statement Dance Mixes, such as this one.
• Misaimed Marketing: The 1986 Fievel Christmas stockings; because Christmas always brings to mind Jewish mice.
• Values Dissonance: When McDonald's first arrived in China, its citizens were baffled by the concept of drive-thru restaurants. In fact, many Chinese simply parked in the drive-thru area and walked into the restaurant to get their food!
• The Scrappy: McDonald's is one to various groups: anti-capitalist/anti-globalizaton activists, vegetarians/vegans, environmentalists, and foodies, to name a few.
• Weird Al Effect: McDonaldization
• Uncanny Valley: The very first ad with Ronald. Seriously, what were they thinking?
