Of Men and Mugic

Of Men and Mugic is a Chaotic: Marrillian Invasion fan fiction started on March 12, 2009 on the now-defunct Chaotic website. Its author's user name is Quazer. In this fan fiction, the human cast of the Chaotic television series does not exist, and is instead replaced with an enormous cast of Original Character humans. On the Perim side of the story, almost every creature exists in an unaltered form.

The setting of the story covers quite a bit of ground, both spatially and chronologically. A large percentage of Perim is visited, from the deserts of the Mipedians, the Danian's Mount Pillar, the Deepmines, and most places in between. On Earth, the main meat of the plot takes place in what appears to be California, but important events also happen in England and Norway. Chronologically, the story spans from the 1500s to the early 2000s, with most events in the past being told through whole-book flashbacks.

By the Power of Grayskull: While most Mugic is cast by simply saying the name of the Mugic in question, a few Mugics in this story require a chant instead. Some examples:
- Prelude of Horror:

"The heart is the source of Courage. Without Courage, the body fails. I offer this creature's heart to these seven notes! Prelude of Horror!"

- - Fen'rir adds a verse when he casts this Mugic:

"Come, that which feeds on cowardice! Come, that which feeds on fear! Bless this day of mine with your presence, and fell my foes in battle! Come! Horror, Bringer of Apocalypse! Horror, Devourer of the Heart!"

- Fanfare of the Shield of Light:

"The shining light represents life! When shadows threaten to throw the world into darkness, we must let our own lights shine all the brighter! When a veil is tossed over the sun, when the moon comes crashing to the ground, and when the stars fail to shine, we must do all that we can to replace the lost light! I offer my heart to these seven notes! Come forth and pierce the darkness with your radiance, Fanfare of the Shield of Light!"

Getting Crap Past the Radar: This story is best taken with Brain Bleach in some later chapters.
- Word of God says that if you don't have a bottle on it nearby, you probably shouldn't read the chapters involving Blade].
Handicapped Badass: Seth. He may be blind, but that doesn't stop him from trying to fight Horror, the embodiment of fear, and WINNING.
Ho Yay: One reader pointed out that Adam and Tiaane seem a little close. Word of God says they aren't close in that way.
Literal Cliff Hanger: With a car, to top it off. Adam, Wally, Seth, and Blade are in a car at the end of one of the chapters teetering on the edge of a cliff. It Makes Sense in Context.
Meaningful Name: The Grey family's last name. Granted, it is fake, but imagine what readers' faces looked like when one of the family's ancestors turns out to be a gray-skinned demon.
Mind Rape: The preferred combat technique of Aa'une, Wally, Azu, and Fen'rir.
- For example, Aa'une once attacks Wally by inserting images of Aa'une and Loq mating with each other into Wally's brain.
My Skull Runneth Over: Fen'rir's brain begins to overload when he tried to read Seth's mind.
Naughty Tentacles: When Azu confronts Fen'rir late in the series, Azu attempts to drain Fen'rir's soul out of his body. Fen'rir basically responds by turning his extracted soul into a mass of tentacles and violate Azu on the spot. (While it isn't made clear that it's happening, the description of one of the tentacles being shoved down Azu's throat does hint at this happening.)
Obvious Trap: Lampshaded by Wally:

Wally: This is too easy. There's no resistance. Why don't they all just wear T-shirts saying "This way to trap"?

Spell My Name with an "S": Is the family's last name "Gray" or "Grey"?
