Necaberints Phalanx

Phalanx is a Gears of War fanfic that follows the story of Gordon and his squadmates starting from a few days before the sinking of Jacinto to the New Hope Research Facility. The main selling point of the fic is that Iota Squad (the squad Gordon is in) uses sheilds to protect themselves from enemy fire, hence the name. 16 chapters of the fic have beeen published and it is still in progress.

Katanas Are Just Better: Gordon uses a Wakizashi, which is a short version of a Katana.
Knife Nut: Gordon gets into a disproportionately high number of situations where he gets to use his sword.
Revolvers Are Just Better Gordon uses a revolver. All the rest have pistols and rifles.
