A Franco-Canadian animated series.
Two rats, Rapido and Razmo, are stowaways on the S.S. Wanderer, a cargo ship transporting a huge amount of Gouda cheese. When they're not dealing with the current crisis (often due to themselves, the crew or temporary passengers/cargo), they race throughout the ship using "ratboards", makeshift flying racecars.
Tropes used in Ratz include:
- Blessed Are the Cheesemakers
- Captain Oblivious: The Captain of the ship, appropriately.
- Cartoon Cheese: It's more holey than Gouda usually is.
- Deranged Animation
- Flying Car/Hover Board: The ratboards.
- Hey, It's That Voice!: French comedic duo Eric et Ramzy provided the voices in the version aired in France. The Canadian airing featured Terrance Scammell (Tripping the Rift, Arthur, Samurai Pizza Cats) as Rapido.
- Homemade Inventions: The ratboards seem to be made by strapping jet engines to mousetraps, but an episode shows that the rats don't know what an actual mousetrap is.
- Razmo is a mechanic and creats various gadgets over the course of the series.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Rapido wears red and Razmo wears blue. Razmo does lose his temper on occasion, however.
