Scoop (fanfic)

Scoop is a Robotech fanfic, written in first person, about a reporter who goes to Macross City to cover the launch of the SDF-1 Macross.

Chekhov's Gun: In the SDF-1 launch celebration, a terrorist tries to bomb the festivities and is captured. A few months later, he successfully bombs a casino on board the ship, and much later, his terrorist group forms an alliance with Khyron.
Colonel Badass: Beckett
Complete Monster: Samir Atta Nidal and his Blood Martyrs. They held several hostages, including the protagonist, and had one of the female hostages raped and murdered as it was being filmed. Little wonder Nidal and Khyron forged an alliance.
Desk Jockey: This is Beckett's fate in the story, due to the wear and tear on his body due to flying the Valkyries.
Expy: Angus Beckett is an Expy of Roy Fokker, at least with respect with his role in Knight Squadron. Unlike Roy, Angus is a family man who is married with children.
Elsewhere Fic: though the protagonist/narrator witnesses canon events at times.
External Retcon: The renegade Zentraedi allied themselves with native insurgent groups, including Khyron allying with Samir Atta Nidal and the Blood Martyrs' Brigade.
Fan Verse: This story takes place in the same Fan Verse as Valkyrie Nights, Spreading Their Wings, Another New World, and Dire Straits. Notably, Angus Beckett appears in Valkyrie Nights and Dire Straits, and Katie Taney and Kevin Landry appear in Spreading Their Wings and Another New World.

OC Stand-In: Colonel Maistroff, a minor canon character is given an expanded role due to his position as commander of the Macross's Space Marine detachment and Beckett's immediate superior.
- Vince Grant, who does not appear in canon materials until Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles, is another example.
One-Winged Angel: Samir Atta Nidal had transformed to this when he was macronized by Khyron.
