Scrooged/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Dyeing for Your Art: All the abuse Bill Murray takes from Carol Kane? It's all real.
  • Hey, It's That Guy!: Remember Buster Poindexter? The guy who sings the party song "Hot Hot Hot"? He's the Ghost of Christmas Past.
  • Hey, It's That Voice!: The German dub is an interesting case. For a change, Bill Murray isn't voiced by Arne Elsholtz who is also Tom Hanks' German voice but by Manfred Lehmann who is usually Bruce Willis' German voice and hams it up even beyond his Gérard Depardieu standard. Robert Mitchum sounds as usual, namely like John Wayne (Arnold Marquis), and Gerd Duwner (Ernie) supplies Buddy Hackett's voice. Also, Edgar Ott as the TV Ghost of Christmas Present. If that ain't cool...
  • Mean Character, Nice Actor: Carol Kane reportedly would get very upset at having to "rough up" Bill Murray in their scenes together.
  • Name's the Same: The film is directed by a Richard Donner. Try not to think of Santa's reindeer.
  • Playing Against Type: Initially Bobcat Goldthwait seems like odd casting as the timid, soft-spoken sad sack Elliot. It makes a lot more sense by the end though.
  • Real Life Relative: John Murray as James. Brian Doyle-Murray also cameos as Earl, their father, in the past sequence.
  • Shout-Out: Murray shouts out "Feed me, Seymour!" in the Closing Credits Cast Party, to encourage the audience to respond to his hilariously over-the-top ad-libbing.
