Basic Trope:

  • Straight:

Bob: Dear father, why are you making life miserable for the people? You plunge whole world into war just to ensure there is a strong ruler that will end war once and for all. Is violence the only answer to the world's problems?

Emperor Evulz: So why are you pointing that impudent sword to me, son?

  • Exaggerated:

Alice: Spreading The Virus across the planet to kill 90% of humanity won't help save the planet from ecological disaster! Humans are part of nature, too! And if we all work together, we can still stop the pollution, and...

President Evulz: What are you talking about? I was just going to spread the virus so that my Evil Incorporate would be able to sell the vaccine — and name our own price! That whole "save the planet" line was just something I fed those silly eco-terrorists so they'd work for me for free! Those idiots!

Alice: Why... you... you... ABOMINATION!

  • Justified: Emperor Evulz is that much megalomaniacal, he doesn't even believe that young and inexperienced people lie Bob or Alice can have valid reasoning.
  • Inverted: Shut UP, Hannibal.
    • Emperor Evulz tells Bob to get the usual "destiny and honor" speech out of his system. Bob just punches him.
  • Subverted:

Bob: Dear father, why are you making life miserable for the people? You plunge whole world into war just to ensure there is a strong ruler that will end war once and for all. Is violence the only answer to the world's problems?

Emperor Evulz: So why are you pointing that impudent sword to me, son? ...But enough of this ruckus. I see you've gathered friends from across the world. You've done something that i will never be able to do, you've gained The Power of Friendship. You are right, people are good-hearted. My time in this world is over." *drinks cyanide*

  • Double Subverted:

Bob: Dear father, why are you making life miserable for the people? You plunge whole world into war just to ensure there is a strong ruler that will end war once and for all. Is violence the only answer to the world's problems?

Emperor Evulz: So why are you pointing that impudent sword to me, son? ...But enough of this ruckus. I see you've gathered friends from across the world. Do you think it will do you any good in the long run? What are you and your so-called "friends" going to do when your common enemy is gone? Turn upon each other like starving rats, plunging the world into chaos once again? Or will you follow my example, and force them to your heel?

  • Parodied: Bob's Kirk Summation is something along the line of Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking. And then Emperor Evulz denies his logic on the basis of improper grammer.
  • Deconstructed: Emperor Evulz attempt to dismiss Bob's arguments have some validity, but it quickly becomes apparent that he is stark raving mad and has no true basis for his own arguments other than self-serving denial.
    • Emperor Evulz quick dismissal of Bob's Kirk Summation causes him to overlook a seriously good point that Bob made which ultimately causes Evulz's downfall.
  • Reconstructed: While Emperor Evulz attacks are primarily self serving and inspire some Fridge Logic, he get's in some good points against Bob that show he has not truly considered the implications of his own actions.
  • Zig Zagged: Emperor Evulz and Bob have a discussion on their respective justifications for their actions back and forth with each arguing against the last point made by the other and essentially being a cyclical Shut Up, Kirk and Shut UP, Hannibal.
  • Averted: The final battle isn't preceded by any kind of witty banter.
  • Enforced: The author want to show the audience how off from most people's sense of morality Evulz is.
  • Lampshaded:

Alice: It's a waste of time talking to him, Bob.

  • Invoked: Emperor Evulz purposefully sets up situations to force Bob to act like Emperor Evulz just to rub it in his face at the thematically appropriate moment.
  • Exploited: Knowing that Emperor Evulz will take the opportunity to point out their hypocrisies and lack of understanding, Bob and co. take advantage of his distraction to sneak attack him.
  • Defied: Emperor Evulz shoots Bob before he can deliver his Kirk Summation.
  • Discussed: Emperor Robert and Bob discuss how Emperor Evulz would otherwise love to jump on any hypocrisies in Bob's argument or his misunderstanding of the evil plan, but note that the hypocrisy or misunderstanding is rather reasonable, given the circumstances.

Emperor Robert: If I were the hand wringing sort of man, I'd point out how much you've misunderstood the plan. Of course, that was the whole point, really.

  • Conversed:
