We have yet to decide on automating things, so I say we standardize for now, so a potential later shift to automation will require less manual adjustment.

Name implies the band is called Awesome Music, which is grounds for renaming regardless of current situations regarding category subspaces.

I didn't realise Rob posted in the mean time. All with brackets that are not Sugar Wiki. Maybe I'm overthinking standardisation with how Wikipedia does things.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

What format do we change them to?

For instance:

  • "Awesome Music/Disney film"
  • "Awesome Music (Sugar Wiki)/Disney film"
  • "Disney film/Awesome Music"

We currently have examples of all three formats on the wiki.

I have no preference as to which format we choose. I do prefer to only change the names once.

For Disney, probably put it under Disney Animated Canon/Awesome Music, and then move any non-animated canon film examples to their respective subpages.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

Not all Disney movies are animated, as Kurt Russell would be able to tell you.

Generalizing from the one example, it appears that your call is to make "Awesome Music" into a subpage. Thus, the list would look like this (keeping the entries in the same order as above):

  • Music/Awesome Music
  • Music/Awesome Music/Classical
  • Music/Awesome Music/Country
  • Music/Awesome Music/Electronic
  • Music/Awesome Music/Fifth Generation
  • Music/Awesome Music/Fourth Generation
  • Matt Furniss/Awesome Music
  • Music/Awesome Music/Movie Trailers
  • Music/Awesome Music/Other
  • Music/Other Composers/Awesome Music
  • Music/Awesome Music/Post-Punk
  • Music/Awesome Music/Progressive
  • Music/Awesome Music/Rock
  • Music/Awesome Music/Seventh Generation
  • The Newmans/Awesome Music
  • Music/Awesome Music/Third Generation or Earlier
  • Tim and Geoff Follin/Awesome Music
  • Anime/Awesome Music
  • Disney Animated Canon/Awesome Music
  • Sugar Wiki/Awesome Music
  • Sugar Wiki/Awesome Music/Laconic
  • Sugar Wiki/Awesome Music/Quotes
  • Web Games/Awesome Music
  • Animation/Awesome Music
  • Music/Awesome Music
  • New Media/Awesome Music
  • Theater/Awesome Music

Is that correct?

Isn't Awesome Music already a subpage? Just a more obscure/less-used one?

Whether Awesome Music should exist as it currently is a more pertinent debate. Music page itself having Awesome Music subpage(s) under that for some reason doesn't feel right visually in my head, because Music enjoyment is somewhat YMMV. Do we make a "Shitty/Terrible Music" subpage to balance it? Am I thinking too deeply on this?

Awesome Music when I notice it rarely in works "All subpages" always gave off the impression off "we at ATT deprecate this". Like it's a backalley store. Maybe we need to just add it to the work banner as its own tab. There's a lot of avenues for us to choose.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

The work and trope banners are both out of date, and need updating. I wish I knew how to do that.

We'd also need to give Awesome Music its own boilerplate.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

We could lump it in with the generic subpage boilerplate. Putting it on the banner is more a way to automate page naming.

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

Revisiting this after a couple of years, I think I know what's wrong with the title. "Awesome Music (band)" is, to me, a page about a band named "Awesome Music". As far as I can tell, there is no band called "Awesome Music" (although there is an agency with that name).

So, yeah, we should look at changing the page name sooner rather than later.

Are any of the suggestions above still good?

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

TVT treats Awesome Music as a crowner, and I suggest we find the most sane way to do likewise for integration into our Lua template.
