Proper Examples?

So for the longest time, this page hasn't had any proper examples since there's the blurb at the bottom saying that every character is a Base Breaker to some extent. However, this feels like a holdover of classic TV Tropes control-freakery that really doesn't hold up, IMO. I guess it's technically true in the sense that there's no 100% universally liked or hated character, but there's a big difference between a deeply polarizing character and an Ensemble Darkhorse with a small hatedom or a Scrappy with a few vocal defenders. Besides, TV Tropes itself doesn't even follow its own rule since you've got Base Breaker pages, they just don't link directly to the main page.

So would it be okay to start posting examples here, or is it better to leave things as-is?

I have no strong preference either way here. However, quoting from Category:Example Sectionectomy:

But before you start that, please check whether the sectionectomy was done on TV Tropes or All The Tropes - there are a very few tropes that we decided shouldn't have example lists here.

At the moment, I don't have time to go look...

Thanks for the heads up: I didn't know that this page existed, so it's definitely a nice reference to have on hand should I stumble upon more pages like this in the future!

I checked the history, it came over from TVT like this, so yes, this is TVT control-freakery. God knows I see enough entries on work pages citing the trope, and none of them are causing edit wars, so any such concern is in my opinion unwarranted.

I am inclined to say yes, let's remove that restriction. (And then we can use "What Links Here" to create a reasonable starting population of examples.)

And three weeks later, I've collected up a couple dozen or so examples gathered off various YMMV subpages, and put them on the on this page while removing the restriction.

Thanks, Looney Toons.

No problem. It's not every instance we had out there, but it's enough to get a start on an example section.

I've been working on and off on a collection of examples myself (along with my other projects on-and-off site) but that's very solid start, Looney Toons! Thanks for helping get this off the ground: once my stuff is ready to post, this page'll be a lot more fleshed out!
