It's been three months since the last edit on this one. I'm proposing we push it back out with a rename to "Chase-Breaking Braking", as suggested below.
Talk:Chase-Breaking Braking
Collision by braking? Dunno. This sort of staged collision usually involved cutting someone off (by pulling too closely in front of them in an unsafe lane change) and then hitting the brakes, but how to fit that in a short, to-the-point title?
"I'll Make You Ram Me"?
No better name has been proposed than "Chase-Breaking Braking" in the thread that is (currently) below this one. I'm re-launching with that name.
...Might we entertain suggestions for a better name? I mean, "Forced Rear-end Collision" is clunky but sounds better than "Ram by Braking".
"Braking Forces Ramming" is the best I can come up with, and it isn't very good.
"Chase-Breaking Brakes"? "Brake Escape"? Still not my best but better than the nothing-burgers I was coming with just earlier.
"Chase-Breaking Braking", maybe? For the wordplay, of course. :)
Yeah, on second inspection, I think that might be one of my better ones. The question is if anyone else agrees...
I have no objections. I have no strong feelings one way or the other, though, to be honest.
Does no one care to improve this one?
Maybe we should delete it outright.
What kind of improvements are you suggesting? I feel like I could start with the description, but I might wait for your answer so that I have a clear goal to work towards.
Well, yes, the description. That's explicitly tagged in the text, and is the reason the trope was moved back into the workshop.
Did the best I could, though I'd swear there was a different term for this trope...
Related, I went searching for one, and rediscovered the "swoop and squat", which I'll be adding as an example shortly.
That's a much better description than what we had inherited from the TVTropes fork. Thank you for writing it!
If we don't use "swoop and squat" as a new trope name (and it is somewhat esoteric), we can at least make that phrase a redirect to the trope.
Sure could! As far as names, I'm drawing a blank myself. (can't manage anything better than "brake trapping...")
