We've agreed to a name, and @Looney Toons has brought the example list up to par. Is the description good enough for a launch?
Talk:Prank Call
Yes.
<slightly louder> I said "Yes!"

Let's ping some people to get their attention.
@Labster, @GethN7, @QuestionableSanity. @Derivative. and @SelfCloak, are your refrigerators running?
Then you had better go catch it! (I'm not the best authority on TW namespace so sure)
Prank Call seems simple and logical enough.
I'm going to take the precee3ding two comments as half a "yes" each. So we have three. Launching...
Renamed and kicked out of the Trope workshop. Still needs entry-pimping, but I have a meeting in a couple of minutes.
Now it's entry-pimped. And it has its first non-default category, too (even though I had to create the category).
From the rather sparse description that's present as of this posting, I can see it has something to do with telephones... but what?
Prank calls. That's it.
Yeah, and I was surprised that we didn't already have a trope for this.
I don't like the name, though; we should just go with the simple "Prank Call", the better to resonate with Mistaken for Prank Call.
Agree on the name change. If a mod has to ask "what is this trope?", then it needs either a better name, a better description, or both. The name's the easiest thing to fix.
No contest to the name change here.
We could also do with a few more non-Simpsons-related examples.
We could raid wikipedia:Prank call#Popular culture for examples. Looks to me like that would take 30-90 minutes to do properly - does anybody have the time to do that right now?
Not right now, but sometime in the next day or so. It's not like we're on a timer, after all.
And done, a week after I said I'd do it.
The page now has 14 examples.
More now. I'm searching the wiki on "prank call" and adding everything that seems appropriate.
Done now.
