Terminator: Dark Fate/YMMV
- Anvilicious: A scene from the second trailer showing the REV-9 in its default form as a Mexican man killing its way through U.S Border Patrol officers, albeit on its mission to kill the main characters, is a rather heavy-handed jab at U.S border patrol. There is also a scene where the REV-9 drives a large truck and smashes through what looks like the Mexico–United States barrier.
- Audience-Alienating Premise: John Connor dies before the story properly begins, and though it is confirmed Skynet ceased to exist, his replacement Legion functioning the exact same way makes Sarah's efforts look useless. The marketing team seemed aware of this since the first twist was completely hidden from trailers, but once the movie was out bad word of mouth eventually led to the biggest box office bomb of 2019.
- Author's Saving Throw: In response to the criticism of Terminator: Salvation and Terminator: Genisys being rated PG-13, James Cameron officially declared that this film would be rated R, like the first two movies.
- Fan Nickname: A rather controversial variant concerning the Rev-9 Terminator. Due to being played by an actor of Mexican heritage, having shapeshifting abilities from liquid metal, being able to split off the liquid metal part into a T-1000-esque drone and the film containing somewhat heavy-handed commentary on the Mexico-United States situation, some Terminator fans and people who disagree with this message have called the Rev-9 the "T-Juan thousand".
- Follow the Leader: It's a Darker and Edgier sequel to a sci-fi franchise involving aged-up heroes trying to save their latino Legacy Character from an Evil Counterpart of one of them. It is clearly following on the steps of Logan.
