You've created enough Trope Workshop pages for now

Of the 35 Trope Workshop pages we have going as of this posting, you have created 12 of them:

And you continue to use poor grammar when creating and editing these pages.

I've already received complaints about you doing this. You're overloading everybody else's ability to keep up.

I've restricted your posting rights - for one month, or until somebody has gone through all of your suggested tropes and cleaned up the grammar in your existing pages(whichever comes first), you are not allowed to edit or create Trope Workshop pages.

This is not a punitive block. This has been put in place to protect the wiki - specifically, to keep the Trope workshop system from being overloaded.

I KNOW!!! YOU HAVE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR MONTHS AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! I HAVE NO ONE ELSE TO HELP ME WITH THIS AND KEEP ON READING THEM BUT I CAN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM. I READ THEM OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND I AM DOING THIS BY MYSELF AS I AM THE ONLY ONE THAT I CAN RELY ON! I HAVE NO ONE THAT CAN HELP ME SEE THE PROBLEM THAT YOU AND OTHER MODS CAN SEE! I am just asking for something specific where my poor grammar is affecting these pages so much and I don't know what to do. I really want to get better at writing and even want to make stories online but this whole situation has been a crutch where I finally think I meet success; I can only find failure in your eyes. I just need outside insight to get what you are stating that I am doing wrong. I need your help and I am begging you to try to give me an example of how my grammar is bad and what I am doing wrong. I beseech you for you help as I am at my nadir with this whole problem.

I don't know how to help you here... This is an issue with your basic grammar skills, and I'm not an English teacher.

Some cities and provinces (or states) have online English grammar courses that people who live in the same place can take for free. I don't know where you live, so I can't suggest anything more than doing an online search for one.

There are also online resources;

You might want to also check out the article 10 Websites to Help Improve Your English Grammar.

I would note that to find and recommend these sites, I did nothing more than Google on "grammar advice online" and pick a few items off the very first page of results, which you could have done seconds after the first time someone suggested you might want to work on your grammar.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

Thank you for that the links, I already have Grammarly but I will try Grammarcheck. I will also look at the 10 website to help improve grammar link as well. This should help with making my mistakes

Since you can't edit Trope Workshop pages at the moment... How is "Potent Pheromones" different from Charm Person?

We don't usually do tropes that are merely "existing trope with a modifier" - we just list the examples on the existing trope page and mention the modifier. In this case, the modifier is the delivery system of the cause of the stated effect.

Alright, the focus of the trope is supposed to be on superpowers related to pheromones where one aspect of such a power can lead to an infatuation or mind control. In other forms, there are other application like in elDIVE where aliens can use their pheromones as form of attack like creating a blade that can cut through an opponent like butter. Stacy X has pheromones produced on her skin where once person makes physical contact with it, their bodily functions will be stimulated such as increasing their stamina or inducing a bodily function like vomiting. Wallflower can make people feel the same emotions she feel through pheromones. Alphas have two forms of people that can make a pheromone but are different; one can cause someone to go berserk while another can cause an emotional attachment. The power itself is taking the biological attribute of pheromones and using for different effects. The most common result is putting them in a love spell or mind control but that just seems like the popular from in media. A Charm Person from what I can read can come from any source such as magic, hypnosis, psychic powers, or by them just being beautiful. The focus of this trope is a superpower that involve pheromones in some way or form. I could also try to find other examples of pheromones being used for other application rather than charming a person would that help?

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

That does help, yes. Thanks.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

I have added some examples along with different examples that stray away from Charm Person. Does it work?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

I can't address that particular because I haven't looked at it yet, but I reopened this thread just now to suggest that you stop adding examples to the tropes you are trying to have created -- at least until they are rewritten to a point that fifth-grade English teacher wouldn't fail them. Adding kilobytes of more badly-written text does nothing to encourage anyone to actually fix your tropes to make them launchable, because it gives the impression of an impossible task. Why would someone spend several hours (and yeah, it will be) fixing one of your tropes, only to find its length has doubled while they were working, and all of the new material needs just as much work?

Once a trope has the basic ten examples, there's no need to open up the editor and back a dumptruck full of more equally illiterate examples into it. You can add them after the trope has left the workshop. Continuously adding more and more material while it's in the workshop does nothing but discourage anyone but you from working on it.

Just stop. Please.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

Okay, I get that I am terrible at writing tropes and examples. I am sorry for causing this trouble. I wasn't trying to encourage anyone to do the work for me but me putting in the work from what I could find from the tropes. If anyone can give me a small hint or something akin to that then fine. I won't try to add anymore and I have been trying to use the tools you have presented. I hope that you can I just want to least accept my apology. The least I can do is try to help correct my mistakes. So would that cause you more trouble or will it lead to more problems?

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

Right now, that will probably lead to more problems. We'll let you know when we've gone through a trope - there will be a comment on the trope's talk page asking whether the troupe should be launched. (Or, in a worst-case scenario, whether it should be deleted, and why.)

Kuma (talkcontribs)

When the talk page for the tropes is launchable or not, can I leave a comment to try and give my two cents or is it just for the mods?

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

No, it's for everybody who wants to comment.

Kuma (talkcontribs)

Okay, thanks for the information! I hope it will be an enlightening experience!
