Your edits here and what you can and can't do.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

Your edits here have been mostly positive, but you've done a few things that concern us.

1. DO NOT edit the userspace pages of other users without their approval, unless it's to fix something like a broken template, and even if you do that, leave a proper edit reason.

2. You have no right to give anyone orders to do anything to their personal userspace pages. Don't do it again. Requests are fine if they are politely given, but you don't order anyone to do anything.

3. While we appreciate new pages, they must conform to our site format, or we will delete them with prejudice.

I want an acknowledgement of all the above from you, or I will block you as a disruptive influence, and if I don;t, any other admin may do the same with my concurrence.

Are we clear?

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

4. Changes to the pages that make up the legal agreement between All The Tropes and its readers, including but not limited to All The Tropes:General disclaimer, MUST be discussed with the administrators before being made. You do not have the authority to unilaterally change the contract between All The Tropes and its readers.

F@'k you, Robkelk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robkelk (talkcontribs)

I was going to review your break because you might not have been a native English speaker... but I see no reason to do you any favours now.

Why you got such a long block

4
GethN7 (talkcontribs)

We initially assumed your edits were in good faith, if done in a bizarre manner, but frankly, we are seriously doubting you are here to do anything save what you want to do.

That said, you are getting a month to actually see what we do here, review how we submit content, and if after a month you want submit on mission content and follow rules, fine, welcome back.

If you don;t want to stick around, so be it.

If you do the same things you did before a month later, your expulsion is permanent.

We try to extend good faith to people who aren't openly vandalizing, and I wanted to believe you were editing in good faith, but we've had to clean up more of your messes than we care, and very little you've done has been of any real benefit to our site and its mission so far.

If you really want to experiment, if that's what you are doing, have Miraheze give your own wiki, but we don't want, need, or care to have ours be used as your scratchpad.

I got such a long block because I was vandalizing.
J'ai eu un si long bloc parce que je vandalisais.
Conseguí un bloqueo tan largo porque estaba destrozando.
Eu consequi um bloco tão longo porque eu estava vandalizando.
Robkelk (talkcontribs)

Since you have admitted to vandalizing the wiki, I am extending the block to a full year.

Davey2010 (talkcontribs)
No no no, don't extend the block to a whole year.
Non non non, ne pas étendre le bloc à une année entière.
No, no, no, no extiendas el bloque a un año entero.
Não, não, não estenda o bloco até um ano inteiro.

OK, I will.
OK, je la ferai.

Let me explain how featured pages work

6
Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

They do not live in a separate namespace. Every featured page has a special stub version of the page formatted as a template which is randomly selected by another template called on the front page of the wiki. Please do not make random changes because you think you know how we do things. Make sure, first.

Davey2010 (talkcontribs)
Do you think this is how featured pages work?
Pensez-vous que c'est ainsi que fonctionnent les pages en vedette?
¿Crees que así es como funcionan las páginas destacadas?
Você acha que é assim que as páginas apresentadas funcionam?
SelfCloak (talkcontribs)

Excuse me? You shouldn't ask questions like that.

Davey2010 (talkcontribs)
OK.

> Do you think this is how featured pages work?

This is how featured pages work here. You may well have encountered a system where featured pages are kept in their own namespace, but that is not how we have chosen to implement them. And you do not have the right to come in and change things to suit you. If you've got a better way to do things, propose it in the forums, get a consensus that you're right, and we'll do it. Sweep in, start changing the wiki organization and structure to suit your preconceptions while arrogantly telling us we're doing it wrong, and we'll ban you for violating point number one of our Terms of Service: "You promise not to be a huge jerk on our site." I noticed last night that you'd already gotten a warning from another admin. Consider this your second warning -- and if I find that another warning has been issued before this, consider this your third strike, for which you will get a short time-out during which you may meditate on the wisdom of asking first, like an adult.

Davey2010 (talkcontribs)

Ok.

A note on Setting subpages

1
SelfCloak (talkcontribs)

I see you created a subpage at Time (magazine)/Setting that has no content. Every subpage should has at least one trope that is described. Also, the Settings section is meant to describe tropes about the setting of a work, so I don't see how this kind of subpage would be useful for a magazine.

Welcome to the wiki...

...and thanks for the style changes you've made, as well as the foreign language stubs. We (and I'm actually speaking for most if not all of the admins, not using the royal "we") are just curious about the "We love you" message you posted on the talk page for an IP that's been banned for spamming. What's up with that?
