Dr. Bruner: "Who are you?" (Zombies start to approach him) "And what are they?" |
White Zombie is a 1932 horror film from RKO Pictures.
A love triangle in Haiti takes an interesting turn when one of the participants turns to a local witch doctor for help. This doesn't go as planned, as the witch doctor has plans of his own....
In 1936, the film was followed by a loose sequel Revolt of the Zombies.
Tropes used in White Zombie (film) include:
- Anything But That: Beaumont's reaction when he realizes what is coming up to him after Legendre poisons him.
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: Sported by Chauvin, one of Legendre's zombies.
- Disney Villain Death
- Drowning My Sorrows: After Madeleine's "death", Dr. Bruner hits the bar.
- Exact Eavesdropping: Beaumont has his butler Silver eavesdrop on his guests.
- Grave Robbing: Madeleine's body is stolen from her grave.
- Hallucinations: After drinking little too much, Dr. Bruner starts seeing Madeleine around the bar.
- Hollywood Voodoo
- Hypnotic Eyes: When Beaumont orders Silver to attack Legendre, he hypnotizes him and he is carried away by Legendre's zombies.
- Love Triangle
- Our Zombies Are Different: Voodoo type, of course.
- Tampering with Food and Drink: Legendre poisons Beaumont's glass of wine to turn him into a zombie.
- Technically Living Zombie: Madeleine's condition.
- Trilling Rs: Legendre is fond of this;
"For the futurrrrre, monsieur!" |
- Villainous Crush: Beaumont to Madeleine.
- Villainous Widow's Peak: Legendre.
- Wheel of Pain: How Legendre's mill works.
