< Bakuon!!
- Expy: It's surprisingly easy to draw parallels between the core cast of Bakuon!! and that of K-On!:
- Hane corresponds to Yui: primary viewpoint character whose younger Yamato Nadeshiko sister essentially takes care of both of them while their parents are absent.
- Onsa is Ritsu: tomboyish and a little crude, but the enthusiastic advocate for their hobby who both recruits and keeps assembled their group.
- Rin is the anti-Mio: blonde, busty and in-your-face where Mio is slender, dark and retiring.
- Hijiri is a funhouse mirror of Mugi: both Spoiled Sweet rich girls, but Hijiri is clueless and just a bit snobby, where Mugi is capable, friendly and unassuming.
- Chisame has much the same role as Azusa, the new member of the club a year younger than the other girls, who is a (near-)pro to their amateurs.
- Raimu has the weakest correspondence, to Sawako; both experienced older women who coach and guide the girls in the club.
- Hey, It's That Voice!: Kikuko Inoue in her gruff tomboy mode as Baita, the talking transsexual Honda that Hane learns on.
- Shout-Out:
- "Is this Heaven?" "Of course not. We're in Aomori."
- To Journey to the West in Episode 5, as the girls briefly envision themelves as the characters of that novel.
- In episode 6 there is a brief appearance of the same medieval woodcut of the sephiroth that's used in Neon Genesis Evangelion, in the same manner (a transparent moving image overlaid on a full-color background).
