Billy Connolly, born 24th November 1942 in Glasgow, is a Scottish folk musician, actor and stand-up. Commonly known as "The Big Yin", he has a large fanbase and was voted Number One on Channel 4's One Hundred Greatest Stand-Ups in both 2007 and 2010.

  • First Gray Hair: He's said that while noticing grey hair on his head was bad, one of the worst shocks of aging was finding his first grey pubic hair. "In a certain light, my willy looks rather distinguished."
  • Naked People Are Funny: Dances naked in the snow in A Scot In The Arctic, setting a precedent for his other travel shows.
  • Testosterone Poisoning: Back in his days as a welder, his colleagues in the shipyards were real men - if the crotch of their overalls caught alight, they would beat the fire out with a hammer!
  • Violent Glaswegian: Subverted in a sketch on Not the Nine O'Clock News where he barges into a dingy looking pub and in a gruff accent asks for a list of tough sounding men. When he is told that none of them are there, he orders a "campari and soda" in a camp accent.
