Dresden Codak/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Acceptable Religious Targets: Evangelical Christians.
  • Anvilicious: Diaz is generally not subtle with his opinions.
  • Awesome Art
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Never Alone.
  • Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy: Kimiko's departure from her old city and friends has effectively removed her from the only real human elements she had. It's left her more unpleasant traits on blatant display without anyone to call her on them or soften them, while she wandered through an incomprehensible Gulliver-esque complex devoid of connection or empathy. Combined with the long update time, it's likely a common abandonment point for some readers.
  • Hate Dumb: The same people who will hate on most webcomics for being unintelligent and uncreative will savage this one for being "pseudointellectual" and Diaz for "thinking he's so smart".
  • Mary Sue: The lengthy name, suspiciously tom boyish traits, and the central importance of the protagonist have led some to call Mary Sue. Having her being an extremely attractive, transhuman cyborg probably doesn't help either.
    • Of course, she's also an extremely unhappy, unpleasant, and amoral person. And unlike most Mary Sues, this is not treated as if it were part of her charm... it's shown to have crippled her socially and driven almost everyone out of her life.
  • Memetic Mutation: "I will do science to it."
  • Unfortunate Implications: The portrayal of Christians as insane fundamentalist Christians would be this, if it wasn't intentional.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Take a look at this and tell me that you don't want to give Kimiko a reassuring hug, you filthy liar. Even the Hob felt sorry for her. How can you live with yourself?
