Fallout 4/Funny

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Base Fallout 4

  • The opening Vault-Tec videos have a LOT of Black Comedy. It's especially Refuge in Audacity level of absurd they unironically will promote cannibalism in one video as a viable means of survival.
  • Some of the weapons are pretty funny:
    • The Junk Jet returns, in all it's "kill a raider with a teddy bear" glory. Even more ironically, it actually is much less useful since breaking down junk is a major gameplay mechanic.
    • The Fat Man, which now includes a Looney Tunes style whistle when fired.
    • The Broadsider's quote says it all:

The Broadsider is the answer to the age old question: "Would it be fun to walk around shooting people with a portable naval cannon?" Yes. Yes, it would.

  • Some game designer had WAY too much time on his hands, because there are hilariously placed teddy bears everywhere. Some are "playing doctor" with actual scalpels, you can find a few smoking cigars, you can find one "in jail, trapped under a wastebasket, and so on.
  • Sunshine Tidings has a Mr. Handy named "Dr.Goodfeels", which is basically a Pre-War robot that a hippie commune reprogrammed to sound like a stoner. It can charge into battle against nearby enemies, and it will still sound like it's high as a kite.
  • And speaking of drugs, taking some of them now come with hilarious voice clips:
    • Psycho: "FUCKIN KILL!", said like you've ODed on PCP.
    • Jet: "YES!", said in a slow-mo yell.
    • Psycho-Jet: Take the Psycho reaction, add the slow-mo voice from the Jet to it.
    • Even the Pip-Boy avatar gets in on it, your Pip-Boy will show Vault Boy with his tongue hanging out with a spazzed out look on his face.
  • Synths in general can be funny. For instance, they are so trigger-happy they will shoot at ANYTHING that isn't them, as if a nearby cat is a spy for the Railroad or something.
  • Vault Boy in general, by virtue of being animated, gets some amusing animations.
    • Pass a speech check, he gives you a double thumbs up and a wink.
    • Flirting that is successful gets a really drawn out wink animation
    • Waking up after the Lover's Embrace temporary perk kick in nets you Vault Boy shirtless in bed with a lecherous look.
  • The "Mysterious Stranger" perk gains a whole new level of funny to it since Nick Valentine not only considers him a dangerous killer, he even has a case file you can find on all information on the Stranger, referencing all the back to Fallout 2, when the perk first appeared. Nick even has special dialogue cursing the Stranger during one of his Stealth Hi Bye moments in combat.
  • The General Atomics Galleria, should you decide not to skip straight to getting it fixed, has some amusing (and lethal) encounters.
    • The Mr. Handy that runs the clothing store will go insane and try to kill you if you touch anything, what makes it even funnier is how tinfoil hat paranoid it sounds prior to you actually doing anything.
    • The diner has an Exact Words laden trap where you can be directed to a table and the waiter Handy will ask if you would like to served "diced, smashed, or fried?", It's possible to escape with a successful speech check, but it can quickly become an in and out of universe Oh Crap moment.
    • The one that runs the Slocum Joe will try to prepare you a cup of coffee, even lighting up it's flamethrower to heat the coffee. Which wouldn't be a problem if you couldn't tell the room had a very obvious gas leak.......
  • The Silver Shroud dialogue is basically your character channeling all sorts of Large Ham.
    • With Automatron, this gets even more hilarious, as you'll still be in character when confronting the Mechanist, and the dialogue between the two of you becomes epic Ham-to-Ham Combat.
