Kangoku Senkan

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Kangoku Senkan is a 2009-2010 OVA Sci-Fi Hentai produced by Pixy and directed by Teruaki Murakami, who is known for his fast-paced animation and dark sexual themes. It is based on the 2007 H-game of the same name published by Anime Lilith.

Lieri Bishop, an up-and-coming New Solars Commander, and her aide Major Naomi Evans board a battleship going from Titan to Earth. Donny Bohgan, the captain of the ship and a Neo Terror in secret, has had a grudge on them since four years ago when they had sabotaged a kidnapping mission on Earth and got him arrested. So he goes ahead and brainwashes them. Sexually.

The brainwashing convinces them that they have the duty of comforting the male officers, in other words, do whatever depraved sexual fantasy they desire. However, victory is not assured for Bohgan: the brainwashing takes time, so he has to be sure that the women will not discover what has been done to them before it is complete.

Tropes used in Kangoku Senkan include:
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: The motives for Donny's crimes differ depending on the version. In the H-game, Donny and his crew receive secret instructions to brainwash the women. In the Hentai, it's his personal grudge against them that drives him to the brainwash.
  • Adaptation Expansion: The brainwashing scene was very brief and didn't show the women having epileptic seizures and losing control of their bladders in the novel.
  • All Women Are Lustful: Lieri and Naomi, at least when the brainwashing is in effect
  • The Anime of the Game
  • Anti-Hero: Bohgan is a class five.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: In episode 4, where Bohgan successfully manages to completely brainwash Naomi and Bishop to be his slaves. He only has doubt of which one to marry.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Bohgan tries to look affable and naive to Bishop, only for her to tell him to drop the pretences since she already knows about his criminal record.
  • Curb Stomp Battle: In Episode 3, Naomi and Bishop discover off-screen that they were brainwashed into being sexual servants for Bohgan and his men. Cue Naomi operating a gun turtle to utterly massacre Bohgan's men.
  • The Dragon: Naomi faithfully obeys Bishop's orders and uses physical techniques to fight.
  • In Medias Res: The first episode already begins with Bishop and Naomi servicing the crew without a starting explanation, giving the impression that women servicing the crew sexually is just a bizarre feature of the setting. It's not.
  • Jerkass: Bishop and Naomi act arrogantly and shoot and beat up Bohgan's soldiers without any remorse.
  • Karma Houdini: The ending narration of Episode 3 shows that Bohgan managed to get away with his crimes because the court refused to take an stance on his brainwashing laboratory, which results in acquital and charges dropped in accord with the setting's laws.
  • Male Gaze: The opening animation gives a good focus to Bishop and Naomi's glutes.
  • Straw Feminist: Naomi, which spell out misandristic sentences while having sex with men.
  • The Mole: In episode 4, Bohgan affirm his intentions of marrying either Naomi or Bishop so they become the mole for the Neo Terrors inside the New Solars faction.
  • Title Drop: Right at the end of the first episode, Bohgan affirms to himself the women can't escape from "this Prison Battleship".
  • Too Dumb to Live: Bishop and Naomi still try to negotiate with Bohgan despite having proof of him brainwashing them, giving enough time for their brainwashing becoming complete.
  • Villain Protagonist: Donny.
  • Unknown Rival: Bohgan to both women, who do not know that they slaughtered his men in the past or remember arresting him.
