Don't be fooled by the Fanservice, there's still moments that'll tug at the ol' heartstrings.

  • Several times in the story, Gladys overhears soldiers talking about rumors regarding her. Mostly that she'll likely always remain as a General, instead of King Lute ever taking her as a bride. Each time she overhears these kinds of conversations, it bothers her a little more. Eventually it comes to a boiling point when Lute declares that he would NOT be taking her with him to Fronce for his diplomatic negotiations, which everyone knew was definitely a trap to lure Lute to his possible death. Gladys chases Lute down and confronts him about his reasons for not taking her along. She questions if it were because he wasn't satisfied by her and that she wasn't good enough for him. She goes on to ask if the reason he won't marry her is because she was a former rebel leader (or that she was bad in bed). Gladys is clearly shaken up by this... Until Lute points out that the rumors of him not ever marrying her were likely started BY Marquis Cuvier's men in order to purposely drive the two of them apart. Gladys realizes Lute's point, and then Lute explained that there was most likely a leak of information from someone in the palace, and that he WAS indeed going to bring her along to Fronce, but he'd need to do it in secret to have the upper hand, hence he had made a spectacle of telling her to stay. Lute further clarifies that he would indeed marry her, and they'd have the ceremony as soon as they returned from Fronce. After that they have make-up sex, and Gladys' tears go from sad to blissful.
