- Crowning Moment of Funny: Hiroshima. Miki. Hungry deers. LOOOOOOOOOOOOL.
- Yuu. Ginta. Ginta squaling about a beautiful girl he saw in an ad. That girl is actually a crossdressing Yuu. Hilarity Ensues.
- Satoshi and Yuu get Mistaken for Gay. Being the Genre Savvy Trickster that he is, Satoshi deliberately fuels said fantasies, and even Meiko gets caught up on them.
- Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Yayoi has one of these. She got rejected on the Valentine's episode, And then Tsutomu comes in, offers her genuine kindness, and they hook up. Squee!!!
- Die for Our Ship: Poor, poor Namura-sensei.
- Ear Worm: Every. Damn. Song. Especially "Egao ni Aitai" and "Saigo no Yakusoku".
- Fan-Preferred Couple: Meiko and Satoshi. Many fans were visibly irked by Namura's re-entry into Meiko's life, and the abrupt abortion of what seemed a slow-but-steady romantic buildup between her and Satoshi. Many post-series fics have been written with Namura either dying in a fire or turning out to be an abusive husband, leaving the door open for Satoshi to play Knight in Shining Armor.
- Which is very nonsensical, considering that Satoshi dedicates a whole scene to explain to Miki his ultimate view of Namura and Meiko. Including how he changed his thoughts on Namura. And fans still bend over to ignore not only Namura's ultimately selfless reasons, but also Satoshi's own Character Development so they can project themselves on Meiko in their fics.
- Some people also ship Bill/Anju over Bill/Jinny, due to the Birds of a Feather deal. Personally, this troperette wanted an OT3 between them.
- Ho Yay: While all three are proven to be straight or at very least straight-leaning, it's interesting that of Yuu's two closest friends in the series, he is suspected of being lovers with one (Satoshi) and the other is long believed to be gay (Bill).
- For added hilarity or Unfortunate Implications, the Genre Savvy Bill pretended to be Ambiguously Gay (when he was actually a mild Camp Straight) so he'd approach the flirty Jinny without being rejected by her. Then again, he could be Ambiguously Bi...
- Moe: Yayoi
- The Scrappy: Arguably, Tsutomu. He is (again, arguably) later rehabilitated as "comic relief" and eventually he dates Yayoi in the anime.
- Tear Jerker: Saigo no Yakusoku. Every time that damn song sounds in the background, go get your hankies.
- Values Dissonance: This is not something you want to marathon with anyone overly obsessed with being PC and/or who forgets that the series's pretty dated by today's standards. Miki sometimes becomes very clingy and dependant on others, Yuu has occasional moments of chauvinism, and the Meiko-Natchan relationship being portrayed as it does HAS been noted to produce this reaction in some viewers.
- The Woobie: Oh, so many. Specially Meiko and Ryouko.
