• Butt Monkey: and borderline Chew Toy, as it's part of his popularity ; the other part being the open kindness he shows to his disciples Sasuke and Hanzo, and the hidden one to other characters.
• Heroic Sacrifice: tries to use a forbidden magic that will have him Taken for Granite forever, so that Azumi can get a single wish of whatever she wants, hoping she'll wish to get a boyfriend. Learning this, Azumi, moved, wishes for Yashichi to turn back to normal instead.
• Highly-Visible Ninja: Arguably.

• Punch Clock Villain: He may be Mirumo's rival, but he's basically under orders : when not in mission, he gets along rather well with other characters.
