- In the "Overwatch: Valkyrie" short story, which all leads up to the scene, which was shown in the first "We Are Overwatch" cinematic, were Mercy was descending from the war thorn sky to save a teenager that's stuck in buried rubble.
- The whole "Valkyrie" short story, since some fans think that Blizzard have forgotten about Heroes, like Mercy, and even treating those that main her like crap. When the short story came out, it brought tears of joy and shows that the Overwatch dev team haven't forgotten about them.
- Not an in-game example per se, a Chinese Overwatch fan by the name, Wu Hongyu died after chasing a thief, who was stealing his friend's motorcycle. Blizzard Entertainment honored Wu in the form of an Easter Egg, an astronaut suit has Hongyu's name beside it a plaque with the phrase "Heroes never die." This also counts as a Tear Jerker,
