Ha! Works for me, and it's in the same vein as our image on Cat Scare. Do it.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

I love it.

Goo Monster (talkcontribs)

Cat Scare has a caption that clarifies. Should we do that with this gif? If so, what should it be?

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

"Literally."

Goo Monster (talkcontribs)

I think that might have of the desired result.

Also I tried adding it (File:Moving goal.gif) to the page and when I previewed it, it just shows the first frame.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

You need to optimize the GIF for size so it's smaller, anything over 2 MB does weird things.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

IIRC, there are free services on the web that will resize an animated gif and preserve the animation, if you don't have anything handy to do it.

gfycat is a good option

Goo Monster (talkcontribs)

I took a look at your suggestion, and I haven't figured it out.

TBeholder (talkcontribs)

or animated PNG?

Goo Monster (talkcontribs)

Last I checked, Animated PNGs aren't animated for all web browsers. Plus my suggestion is already a gif.

TBeholder (talkcontribs)

Are they not displayed or simply not animated?

Goo Monster (talkcontribs)

They are static on some web browsers. I thought that I used such a browser, maybe I DID, but it updated. Update or not, wikipedia says web browsers that don't have animated PNGs animated still exist.

GethN7 (talkcontribs)

I recommend putting a static image version of the GIF on the page and in the caption include a link to the animated version like "Literally!" (animated ver.), with the words for the animated version turned into a direct link to the animated version, which would bypass the problems you discovered.

Goo Monster (talkcontribs)

Turns out framing and aligning it without losing the animation is straight forward. Captioning it is also quite manageable. Still haven't been able to change the size without losing the animation, not that I've been spending much time trying to figure it out. Maybe I'll try gfycat cat again or something in a few weeks.
