Lequinni/sandbox provides examples of the following tropes:

Trope Putting on Airs

When a character affects their speech and manners to make themselves look as if they are of a higher social class they actually are, we can say they are Putting on Airs. This is not merely snobbery (although the characters may display it too), this trope is about deliberately changing their way of speech to make themselves look high class (or at least the person idea of "high class"). Affecting french accents common but not obligatory.

Typically spotted on the Mock Millionaire, the Gold Digger, and assorted social climbers. The Impoverished Patrician and the Princess in Rags tend to overstate their origins by ramping their original affectations this way. Usually betrayed by their less classy accent slipping under stress.
