  • Dark and Troubled Past: Bill's "long story" was that he was part of the military, had seen and done things that are horrible for a bigger good. So he came out to Indonesia to start a new life.
  • Evil Detecting Monkey: Kong, whenever he screeches warns about upcoming dangers.
  • Knife Nut
  • Machete Mayhem: Bill uses his trusty machete to clear jungle pathways...And to use occasionally to dice huge threatening snakes.
  • Only In It For The Money: Bill accepted Dr. Bryon's money that he offered him to risk it, never mind that the boatman knows that it's insanely perilous.

Jack Byron

keeping John Livingston's cellular phone hidden from the others. Since he doesn't want them "to make one call back to civilization." To top it all off, even lying to the Indonesian cops that he's the sole survivor of the expedition.

  • Would Hit a Girl: Jack will go so far as to abandon Gail and Sam (and the others) in the wilds, even threatening to shoot them, and even doing so.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Not only will Jack will do the aforementioned "Would Hit a Girl" trope, but he killed Mitchell and threaten Cole, both of whome are black.

  • Character Development: First she's only in it for the dough, but as the movie progresses She begins to care about the remaining survivors, the fact that there's a possibility that they'll all become snake chow, and etc...
  • City Mouse: Gail displays bits of this, she hated the jungle and even calling Kong "Disgusting."
    • After going through a sort of journey, she began to appreciate nature and acknowledge Kong as a best friend.
  • The Lancer: to Jack Byron.
  • The Skeptic: She has doubts about everything concerning the Perrinnia Immortalis: anything from obtaining it, using said samples for the testing...Including getting human test subjects, and the supplies meeting the demands.
  • The Sponsor: Dr. Stern is one of the few who sponsored the whole expedition.
  • Only in It For the Money: Like Gorden, she loves the money and she's not in it for the potential of finding the legal equivalent to the fountain of youth.
  • Tsundere: She acts like this towards Gorden. Until later on.

Sam Rogers

  • Dumb Blonde: Greatly averted, since Sam's research made the expedition all the more possible.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Sam took a knife/machete and hack a snake to death.
    • Near the ending, she took a pistol and was one of the guys who set off the chain reaction explosion.

Cole Burris

  • Black and Nerdy: Burris knows bits about snakes and what they're up against, since he watches a lot of documentaries. Even albeit he doesn't have the jungle savvyness as Bill Johnson's and Tran Wu's.
    • In another side, he's one of the scientists that works at Wexel Hall pharmaceutical.
  • The Complainer Is Always Wrong: This trope was eaten alive by an anaconda, since Cole Burris even bought up good points which his peers mostly listen to and/or agree with his insight.
  • Took a Level In Badass: In the anaconda nest, Burris used a flare gun to save his teammates from an anaconda or two.

  • Chivalrous Pervert: Ben, despite being average, tries to be chivalrous, flirting, and being brave to impress his female friends.
  • Freudian Slip: While Sam was talking about running off with Sam since they're in Romantic Borneo, he accidentally adds "No commitment."
  • Frontier Doctor: Ben tells his peers that he's one of the "Doctors without borders."
  • Shoo Out the Pervert: Ben was the first one to get attacked and consumed by an anaconda, this was when the film became more dark with no humor.
