• Ambiguously Jewish: Start with the last name Storkowitz, add their self-admitted big noses/beaks...

Eddie Voiced by Susan Roman

A 10-year-old bird. Excitable and happy, he is passionate over filmmaking and often carries a video camera with him.

• Berserk Button: Being teased for his "chicken legs".
• Camera Fiend: See description.
• Catch Phrase: "Flamin' feathers!"
• Cloudcuckoolander: He doesn't always have the strongest grip on reality vs. fiction, as seen in "Birdman".
• Finger Framing: Done often.
• Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Just a red shirt.
• Hollywood Tone Deaf: It's a plot point in "Gulls and Dolls" that the Storkowitzes can't sing. That doesn't stop Eddie from trying by beak-synching to Gregory's singing voice.
• Mr. Imagination: He has an Imagine Spot in nearly every episode.
• Teacher-Student Romance: Has a major crush on Miss Finch (see below), but it's one-sided.

Morty voiced by David Huband

Eddie's dad, who is a psychiatrist. He is somewhat of a strict disciplinarian.

• Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: During "Father and Son Camp Out", at least at first.
• Good Parents: A bit stricter than Betty, but still does it out of love and never comes across as mean.

• Non-Mammal Mammaries: In a weird variant, he has nipples in an Imagine Spot in "Life of Riley".

• The Shrink: Type 3, as he's able to tame Mr. Nuthatch rather quickly.

Betty voiced by Sally Cahill

Eddie's mom, who is an artist. She is a bit more relaxed towards Eddie's nature.

• Good Parents: She's rather supportive of Eddie and really seems to care for him.

Steffy voiced by Stephanie Morgenstern

Eddie's older sister. Like most teenagers, she goes from happy and loving to being constantly annoyed by everyone in her family.

• Granola Girl: She is a staunch environmentalist. The first episode has her throwing paint on models wearing fuzzy caterpillar coats, and another has her boycotting a singer because he uses shampoo with the extract of an endangered plant (even though she had been begging to go to one of his concerts).

Abby voiced by Alison Sealy-Smith

Eddie's younger sister, who hatches in the first episode.

Sleepy Bat voiced by Julie Lemieux

An apparently narcoleptic bat in Eddie's class, and the only recurring non-avian in the series.

• Furry Reminder:

Eddie: Sleepy, I still can't believe you've done the essay! I mean, who can find the time? Sleepy: I'm a bat, I'm up all night. (yawns) What else am I gonna do?

• • This becomes a Brick Joke later in the episode, when Sleepy mysteriously shows up in Eddie's bedroom:

Eddie: Sleepy! What are you doing here?! It's the middle of the night! Sleepy: Eddie, I'm a bat! (Face Palm) We've been through all this!

• Known Only By Their Nickname: Doubles as an Odd Name Out as a result.
• Meaningful Name
• Sleepyhead: Of course.
• Token Minority: In a sense; he's the only non-bird character in the entire series.

Olivia Owl voiced by Karen Bernstein

A smart owl.

• Adorkable: She's basically an older Twist in owl form.

• Running Gag: Turning her head around backwards to creep out Eddie.

Spring Robin voiced by Ruby Smith-Merovitz

A female robin whom Eddie has a crush on.

• Out of Focus: She and Olivia are pushed to the background in the latter half.

• Those Two Birds: Often seen with Olivia.

Tommy Turkey voiced by Adam Reid

A fat domestic turkey. He's not very smart, and he compensates for his inability to fly by using balloons.

• Balloonacy: Tommy "flies" by way of a single helium balloon in his backpack. This becomes a plot point in one episode, where his friends try to convince him to ditch the balloon, only to realize that turkeys can't fly.

Gregory Woodpecker voiced by Rick Jones

An also-excitable woodpecker.

• All Drummers Are Animals: He plays drums in two episodes.
• Performance Anxiety: In the musical episode, he is shown to have a fine singing voice, but is afraid to perform onstage. At first, he has Eddie beak-sync to him, but then feels guilty over pushing Eddie into the spotlight this way and runs off. Eddie finally fakes a sore throat, forcing Gregory to step in as his understudy and overcome his stage fright.

Eddie's teacher. He has a crush on her.

• Cool Teacher: She seems generally supportive of Eddie. In one example, she allows him to shoot a video essay instead of writing one. However, she still disciplines him when necessary.

Mr. Nuthatch voiced by Richard Binsley

A psychologically unstable green bird who is a recurring patient of Morty's.

• Cloudcuckoolander: By the end of the series, he is much more self-confident, but still rather eccentric.
• Eggshell Clothing: He wears part of an egg as a hat.
• Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: The only adult male in the series who fits this trope, as he wears only a jacket.
• Lovable Coward: At first.

Officer Pigeon voiced by Chris Wiggins

A yellow, Scottish-accented pigeon who is the main police force.

• Donut Mess with a Cop: Subverted. Officer Pigeon buys a box early in the episode "Birdman", but after losing his job due to Eddie and Sleepy's interference, he throws them at the bank robbers to stop them and admits that he doesn't eat them because "they're bad for you".

Principal Pip voiced by Len Carlson

The rather laid-back principal at Eddie's school.

• Cool Old Guy: In one episode, he dresses as Birdman to chase away would-be robbers.
