• Crossing the Line Twice: There are a lot of offensive jokes but they are really funny.
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: After spending the entire movie gushing about his new Leica M7 camera, Jamie immediately sells it so Scotty will have enough money to travel to Vatican City to meet Mieke. His justification?

"The chateaus have been here for three hundred years. Mieke's gone in 12 hours."

• Cult Classic: While it was a dud at the box office, it gained a good following. It is also considered one of the better teen sex comedies aside from American Pie and Superbad.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: It's no surprise that a good amount of Europeans loved this film.
• Ear Worm: You'll have the song "Scotty Doesn't Know" stuck in your head for days after watching this movie.
• Ensemble Darkhorse: The Absinthe Fairy played by Kenny Bania's actor sure is fun to watch.
• Harsher in Hindsight: After Hostel came out in 2005, it can be a little hard to watch a movie that takes the idea of a sex-crazed American backpacker getting tortured while looking to get laid in Europe and plays it for laughs.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • The song "Scotty Doesn't Know" is all about...fucking Matt Damon.
  • Richard Steven Horvitz did ADR for this adult-oriented comedy film. Over 15 years later, he would drop F-bombs in Helluva Boss.
• Just Here for Godzilla: No few male viewers showed up to see Michelle Trachtenberg take her top off as teased in the trailers.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • "This isn't where I parked my car!"
  • "Here's a fun fact. You made out with your sister, man!" This one became popular for Star Wars and Game of Thrones fans.
  • "Pretty good. Pretty damn good, lads!"
  • "Administer the testicle clamps!"
  • "Mi scusi!"
• Mexicans Love Speedy Gonzales: While there are plenty of European and American stereotypes, they don't feel like stereotypes at all.
• One-Scene Wonder: Matt Damon as Donny stole the show in the prologue.
• She's All Grown Up: The delighted response of male audience members to Michelle Trachtenberg's first "adult" role.
• Signature Song: "Scotty Doesn't Know".
• Trailer Joke Decay: Some of the good jokes were shown in the trailer, diluting the effect.
• Values Dissonance: A few characters casually use the word "retard". At least it wasn't bad in that department compared to future DreamWorks film Tropic Thunder.
• Villain Song: "Scotty Doesn't Know", especially since the singer and Fiona are well aware Scotty is there and that they are giving him Too Much Information.
• Win Back the Crowd: Jeff Schaffer, David Mandel and Alec Berg who had written The Cat in the Hat should be glad this film was released given that they are more comfortable with adult-oriented scripts than family-friendly ones.
