• Arc Fatigue: The Chimera Ant arc ran for more than 7 years.
  • Isn't that only because of the long breaks that the mangaka took inbetween chapters?
• Awesome Art: Say what you will about The Remake, but there's no doubt that the series could really use the Madhouse touch, especially considering the manga's bad artwork or the original anime's bad animation.
• Broken Base: All over the place ever since the new series began airing, and even before that. There are fans (including those who are only familiar with the original anime who either:
  • • Are disappointed or don't mind that it's a reboot.
    • Are disappointed that the new series doesn't change things around like the previous one did or don't mind that it's truer to the manga.
      • Hate or don't mind the new voices.
  • Lately each major arc seems to do this. Greed Island got really long winded and overly complex, but had some redeeming qualities shine through; and opinions are REALLY divided on the Chimera Ant arc. Some declare it the complete and utter ruination of the series, while others find it to have the depth and complexity that makes Hunter x Hunter stand out among Shonen.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome: Gon breaking Illumi's arm.
  • Gon annihilating Pitou in just two hits. "First. Comes. Rock."
  • Following that, Gon stabbing through Pitou's torso with his own sliced off arm. Can you say GARmoe?
  • Killua successfully completes his second Hunter Exam by defeating all 1,488 rivals in 90 minutes, which wouldn't have taken him nearly as long if he didn't steal all of their number plates as well.
  • For a villainous example: Uvogin is paralyzed from the neck down and faced with three highly skilled, super-powered assassins. What does he do? He bites the the top half of the first assassin's head off, spits it out with such force that it shoots right through the second assassin, and then yells so loud he explodes the third one's brain.
  • In chapter 325, Leorio calls out Ging for not visiting Gon while the latter is on his deathbed and uses a new Nen ability to project a fist from Ging's table that knocks him off his ass. Then he flips Ging off.
    • During the voting session for determining the next Hunter Association Chairman, the above mentioned move wins over enough Hunters to put Leorio at third place in the campaign to determine who will be the next Hunter Association Chairman (it helps that most Hunters don't like Ging).
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: When Kurapika meets up with the rest of them in Episode 62. To top it all off, he laughed for what might possibly be the first time
• Crowning Music of Awesome: The original TV series has a great, fitting soundtrack. Some of the theme songs aren't too shabby as well!
• Draco in Leather Pants: Hisoka usually gets this treatment. Kuroro also.
• Cult Classic: The original anime and manga had such a strong following that...
  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: A new reramp began in 2011.
• Evil Is Sexy: Pakunoda, some fans have said she'd be nice if it weren't for her nose.
• Fan Nickname: Hiatus x Hiatus for the series itself. No guesses why.
• High Octane Nightmare Fuel: Alluka Zoldyck. Pretty much the nastiest Jackass Genie in fiction.
  • Gon's damaged arm when Killua has Alluka heal him. It's all you see of his damaged state, but Killua's expression says it all.
• Holy Shit Quotient: The final Bomb Devil fight. Particularly noteworthy because Gon fights a significant portion of the battle with HIS FREAKING HAND BLOWN OFF.
• Iron Woobie: Kurapika
• Magnificent Bastard: Kuroro/Chrollo.
• Memetic Mutation: Gon's Nen-powered adult form seems to have become this in Japan as Gon-san, thanks to his very odd hairdo and serious, stoic expression on such a cheerful character.
• Moral Event Horizon: Several times, at least once for every villain. The Genei Ryodan are a very interesting example, as they start out on the other side of the Horizon and then slowly inch back as we learn more and more about them and the environment they came from.
  • Meryem constantly dances a fancy jig around this line.
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks/It's the Same, Now It Sucks: See Broken Base.
• Uncanny Valley: Illumi just does not look right.
  • It might run in the family a bit. Alluka has a tendency to look 'off' even when not in his black eyed 'wishing mode.'
• Viewer Gender Confusion: Neferpitou and Calluto come to mind.
  • Plus Kurapika, Senritsu, and others. It's a standard Togashisim
  • Special mention goes to Killua's younger siblings Alluka and Kalluto. I think his mom REALLY wanted a daughter after 3-4 sons in a row. It would explain why Kalluto's by her side dressed in a kimono and looking about as feminine as feminine gets. Alluka is an especially strange case; Killua refers to Alluka as female, while Illumi refers to Alluka as male.
• What Do You Mean It's for Kids?: Even by Japanese standards, the manga (especially), and both anime series are considerably violent, especially during the Chimera Ant arc in the manga. Nonetheless, the story was intended for family reading/viewing.
