I'm a Singer/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: When it was announced that Yim Jae-Beom would be appearing on the show.
  • Broken Base: Broken into several itty-bitty pieces, with each of them supporting certain singers.
  • Base Breaker: Most, if not all of the, singers are these, but the most prominent seems to be Yoon Min-Soo; either they love his voice, or they hate it.
  • Creator's Pet: For most fans, Ok Joo-Hyun. After she got eliminated, Jeok-Woo seems to be the next one.
  • Elimination Houdini: In one particular cycle, Kim Beom-Soo tied for sixth in the first contest and got fifth in the second one, and still managed to escape elimination only because the winner of the first contest, BMK, utterly botched her second one, eliminating herself in the process.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Scott Hellowell, the guest guitarist of YB.
  • Executive Meddling: Every single thing the executives did post-Yim Jae-Beom could be considered this. But particularly the "Hall of Fame". More recently, some of the songs are unavailable on the market because of the inability to get the rights of the original singers.
  • Fan Dumb: Has a bad case of this.
  • Growing the Beard: Yim Jae-Beom is often credited to bring some life into the then-struggling show.
  • Hype Backlash: Popular singers have gotten this quite a lot after appearing here.
  • Jumping the Shark / Ruined FOREVER: It's generally agreed by most of the fans that the show took a decline when Ok Joo-Hyun was cast.
  • Memetic Mutation: The "I'm A ___" titles.
  • Replacement Scrappy: Ok Joo-Hyun, oh so much. JK Kim Dong-Wook used to be this, but now he's more of a Woobie.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: When Jaurim came in as a second band to the show, many fans expected a great Band vs. Band showdown between it and YB... and then the Hall of Fame came into effect, forcing YB out of the show after that current cycle. Not that it mattered too much anyway as YB was eliminated in that cycle, but still.
  • What the Hell, Casting Agency?: Most fans of the show did a Flat What when Ok Joo-Hyun was cast.
