Fridge Brilliance

• At first glance, Kai seems a straight example of the Law of Chromatic Superiority, possessing power and mech configurations in excess of what his non-red siblings are able to achieve. However, take into consideration what Mandora Boy tells us in Stage 4, that magic beyond what you're capable of is highly fatiguing, and it becomes apparent that it's less that Kai is more powerful, and more that he's the one willing to push himself beyond his limits without a second thought. This also plays into his unique mech configurations, like Fire Kaiser and Saint Kaiser, which he's able to get because he's the one leaping forward and taking chances while the rest of his family hesitates. - cypsiman2
• Okay, this just hit me; in Stage 35, it is revealed that Wolzard had briefly regained control of his true self and faked Miyuki's death to teleport her out of danger. On the surface, this feat of magic, performed silently and without anyone watching being able to notice, strains the suspense of disbelief in even for this show. But! In stage 6, Wolzard fakes his own defeat at the hands of the Magi Rangers, teleporting away to seal the deal. Thus, we can see that the writers established this plot point well in advance, with such subtlety that it never risks giving away the foreshadowed twist. Damn! - cypsiman2
  • Also, consider how Miyuki disappeared as opposed to actually dying or exploding. Genre Savvy Toku fans would know that most of the time, the one sure way to make sure someone's dead is if they blew up or if they were shown to have died.
• Nai and Mare's suddenly ability to bring others Back from the Dead seems like a big old Ass Pull. I mean, if they had a power like that for the whole series, why didn't they use it.......Wait a minute!!! Then you realize three things:
  • (1) They have been using it all series, only on Themselves. This one is obvious since they said as much.
  • (2) They never used it on any other characters, because all the villains, being Made of Explodium, never left anything to revive. Notice that Sphinx, Hikaru, and Isamu all had bodies to restore. They might be able to revive themselves even when they're just chunks, but not others.
  • (3) And this is the most important one; when you really think about it, what they did is just a more benevolent, no catch, toned down version of what Vampires do all the time, which when you leave out the all the drawbacks, is bringing someone back to life. Or to be more exact, sharing immortality with others.
• The above Fridge Brilliance, combined with my latest rewatch of the series, led me to realize how it was that Smoky survived his Heroic Sacrifice in Stage 48; we were told back in Stage 26 that Smoky was bound to the MagiLamp until he'd performed enough good deeds to lift the curse on him. And during the Where Are They Now? Epilogue, we see Smoky walking around independent of the MagiLamp. The conclusion is simple enough; Smoky's act of Taking the Bullet for Urara against Dagon was the last good deed needed to lift the curse, and so he survived. Thus, we can now establish that there were no ass pulls in the final episode. Hot damn!
• Ifrit and Cyclops died because they screwed around, Gorgon couldn't be trusted, Drake was uncontrollable, Toad was an idiot, Wyvern was a hot head, and Titan was a softie. If not for Sphinx getting too curious about this thing called courage, N Ma would have been left with the most powerful and reliable of the Hades Gods. In other words, the Dark Precepts resulting in most of his gods getting killed wasn't a bug, it was a feature.

Fridge Horror

• The Legendary Magicians became the Heavenly Saints who provide the Ozu Siblings with their spells. When the Ozu siblings meet them in Magitopia during The Movie, they don't say anything despite being hailed by the siblings. Then, in Stage 31, they are told that if they overuse their Legend Modes, they will become Heavenly Saints and lose all memories of their human existence. So then, did the Legendary Magicians merely choose not to say anything, or were they still unable to remember how?
• According to Mandora Boy, most people who hear his cry upon pulling him out die. Does he know this from personal experience?
