Saints Row: Gat out of Hell/Nightmare Fuel

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • While the game generally takes a parodic view of Hell, there are some aspects of it that should still be disturbing if you think about them too hard.
    • For starters, if you happened to be particularly evil, or just self serving enough, you retain your original form and your intellect going in, and since Hell is a basically a Wretched Hive of criminals on a world level scale with demons thrown in, this means, had Dane Vogel or the other former crime lords you met down there been willing to turn against you, it would have been a LOT harder to get anything done, especially since they would have had The Legions of Hell on their side versus just Johnny and Kinzie.
    • Also, think about what it means to be a damned soul. You exist in constant moaning pain for eternity or however long your damnation is supposed to last, you are essentially able only to be kicked around by any demon if they so choose because they are the law in Hell and you're just someone they have officially authority to mess with whenever they feel like it, you can be struck by lighting at any time, for no reason at all, and about the only way to shorten your sentence of damnation is to put yourself through even more horrible agony. Sure, it's all Played for Laughs, but reflect on what it would be like if it were portrayed more seriously.
    • While Dane Vogel apparently has access to most of the amenities he had while he was alive, he confirms, aside from booze, no food or water exists in Hell, at least anything that wouldn't kill you. Lava is the only thing around that is remotely liquid, and if it wasn't for Dane giving Johnny and Kinzie some of Lucifer's former powers to up their chances of survival, chances were quite good they'd have a much harder time getting anything done, let alone surviving in general. In fact, before you meet Dane gives the player a nice preview of what this would be like, and tilts the odds of The Legions of Hell killing you massively in their favor before meeting Dane.
  • Keep in mind Johnny's offhand remark about what was left of humanity before entering Hell. Keep in mind what happened to most of humanity in the last game. Now think about what would happen if Johnny, Kinzie, and the Boss died in Hell. Scary thought, isn't it?
  • Satan manages to horrify and disgust Johnny Gat into immediately dropping his weapon. How, you might ask? He uses his own daughter Jezebel as leverage, saying he'll kill her, and when even Johnny is sickened enough to point out that Jezebel is his DAUGHTER, Satan just causally remarks he'll say something nice at her funeral, which prompts Johnny to immediately toss his gun to the floor. It's a very disturbing CMOA for Satan that he manages to make Johnny Gat so horrified he immediately disarms, and it's only more disturbing when you keep in mind Johnny himself once wanted to use Jezebel's life as a bargaining chip but was far more easily talked down into a far more peaceful solution, despite the fact both Gat and Satan are remarkably callous about the lives of others.
  • The end of the game has God reveal Satan's true Evil Plan: He wanted either the Boss or Johnny to marry his daughter so he could make either of the two his top general so he could take on Heaven. Even God admits Satan came very close to pulling it off and likely could have won if he did.
