The Games is a currently^[when?] ongoing Original Character Tournament held by deviantArt's Britbau.

The living puppet Festival was created solely for the purpose of entertainment. Festival, however, soon found that people thought his life was unnatural, and that he was a thing of evil. Scorned by man and denied his true purpose, Festival left civilization for what seemed like it would be forever.

Years later, just as the living puppet begins to be fade from memory, a new game show is announced with none other than Festival himself as the host. The circumstances are strange however... How did Festival manage to get his own show, and to what advantage? This new show quickly gains the public's attention due to its boasts of fabulous rewards, including the grand prize of fortune, fame and possibly even a brand new car! Festival quickly announces that the show will have a limited number of spots for contestants. "Only 32 will be let in!" Festival shouts, "Prove to me you're worth it!"

And so the games begin. The games will be exciting, the competition rough, and the prizes fantastic! ...But at what cost...?

This tournament is interesting for (at least) 2 reasons. 1. It is not a fighting tournament. The judges base it on story and creativity. 2. Each round is given a theme, rather than an event. It is up to the competitors to come up with the Game based on the theme.

Round 1's theme was "Target", and Round 2's theme was "Obstruction". Round 3 is currently^[when?] underway, with the theme "Masquerade".

Tropes used in The Games (original character tournament) include:

• Achievements in Ignorance: Mouse can defy the laws of physics and do anything unless it's pointed out to him that he shouldn't be able to do it.
• Alternative Character Interpretation: The judges Festival, Magrite, Chiyo, and Gregory are yours to do with what you chose.
• Animate Inanimate Object: Scarecrow, and Doodle is a living dictionary.
• Artificial Limbs: Tiffany and Doodle. The latter has artificial limbs made of words.
• Ascended Extra: Lucy and Yakon, who tried to get in separately( with Beyondnor's(Minz and Enz's creator) art with a friend's writing), but failing that, Beyondnor immigrated them into his story when he was accepted in as a favor.
• Attention Whore: Spike will do just about ANYTHING to get attention. Tongue stabbing, anyone?
• Badass Beard: NIEL.
• Berserk Button: Don't destroy Gregory's stage, for the love of god.
• Beware the Nice Ones: The judges all appear nice and friendly, but harbor some pretty jerkish actions, especially Gregory. Each has been portrayed as having their own agenda.
• Cloudcuckoolander: JTO, Blot, and Yakon have shades of this.
• Duck Hunt: The game of Round 1 in Whitney's matchup.
• Four Lines, All Waiting: Beyondnor's entries. Jeez.
• Functional Magic: Scarecrow and Whitney excel at this in the form of Elemental Powers.
• Gentle Giant: Rogoui.
• Hidden Agenda Villain: Very likely Enz, Rune, Ne'krov and Mr. Sum.
• Love Triangle: Both Spike and Darius like Adrianna. (Interesting note: this triangle actually started when both Auriceli and Rubymight filled out a meme that paired Adrianna with Darius and Spike respectively. All three artists agreed it was too good an idea, and it quickly became canon as Rubymight incorporated it into her entry. It has since been hinted at in other entries by assorted artists.)
• Medium Awareness: JTO has this as his superpower, and as a character trait, so does Yakon.

  • Although some people might say Magrite has gotten a little too much love.
• Nice Hat: Mouse, Sweeper, Bob, Scarecrow, Douglass, Doodle, Whitney, Minz and Enz.
• One True Pairing: Rune/Magrite (dubbed 'Runite'), Douglass/Tiff, Spike/Adrianna or Adrianna/Darius, Whitney/Makito (Whitkito), Cup/Marissa
• Parrot Pet Position: Olliver, Kasper, and Artemis at times. Charles to an extent.
• Running Gag: The stage getting destroyed. Horizontal Mambo. Also, Robert.
• Sealed Evil in a Can: Lakewood, Whitney's staff. More like sealed jerk, though.
• Summon Magic: Douglass' specialty, aside from being an incredibly negotiable lover.
• The Speechless: Doodle.
