The Group is an ongoing online story by Sidewinder that follows the exploits and daily life of four supervillains.

When Marcus Smith and Dr. Shaun Williams come to New York they don’t stand out much. One’s an up-and-coming evil mastermind with a low tolerance for boredom. The other doesn’t have all his faculties, yet is still the science guy.

Things get interesting when they meet self appointed hero Rachel Murphy. Things get even more interesting when they find a naked amnesiac girl in a dumpster.

Tropes used in The Group (novel) include:

• Canada, Eh? - Rachel. It's not too obvious.
• Combat Tentacles - Jane has these. Why she has them is not certain.
• Easy Amnesia - Jane can't remember anything exept how to operate rudimentary devices like faucets and such. Halway through Episode 2 she regains most of her memories, exept who she is and where she's from.
• Evil Brit - Marcus revels in this trope. Shaun doesn't fit it quite as well.
• Gravity Master - Rachel.
• Jerkass - Marcus, Rachel, Shaun when he is in the mood, Jack Moore, Wildcard when she snaps.
• Last-Name Basis - Marcus and Rachel always use each other's last names. As opposed to everyone else using first names.
• Law of Inverse Recoil - Inverse has this as his super power. He can use Hand Cannons like it's nothing, but tells a story about when he used a recoilless rifle that ended with him in the hospital.
• Mad Scientist - Shaun. Also something of a Genius Ditz.
• Person of Mass Destruction - Quite a few, including Rachel, if Inverse and Jack Moore are to be belived.
• Seinfeldian Conversation - After passing out, Jane wakes up to Marcus and Rachel arguing about whether Princess Leia should have been naked when she was Jabba's slave.
• Split Personality - Wildcard has one. When put under too much pressure another personality will take over to protect her.
• Super Smoke- Marcus can turn to smoke when he wants and will turn to smoke when something hits him hard enough.
• Token Good Teammate - Jane.
• Villain Protagonist - The story is about a group of supervillains creating havoc in New York.
