Magazines are a form of Literature.

Magazine publications, whether it be news, hobbies, a Fashion Magazine, etc.

Magazines are named after the very first example of the media, The Gentleman's Magazine, which serves as Trope Maker and Trope Namer. It was in turn named after the military stockpile, from which it seeked to be a similar source of useful things.
