Deadpool 2 is the 2018 sequel to Deadpool, directed by David Leitch and starring Ryan Reynolds as Marvel's premiere Anti-Hero -- Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth.

After a failed suicide attempt in the wake of his lover Vanessa's death, Deadpool joins the X-Men and becomes caught up in an effort to stop Cable, a Time Traveler who has come from the future to kill a young mutant named Firefist.

Deadpool assembles a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits to help him, named X-Factor, but in the end, it comes down to just Deadpool and Domino to save the day (and the yesterday), as much of the X-Factor dies horribly because Deadpool completely ignored weather news.

Both Deadpool and Cable's plans are ruined by the fact Firefist became friends with none other than Juggernaut. With a complete lack of enough people to do with such threat, Deadpool tries to get the help of Colossus and his team of X-Men (that is just Negasonic Teenage Warhead and her girlfriend Yukio) in the best way possible: blasting Peter Gabriel from a boombox.

Tropes used in Deadpool 2 include:
  • Actor Allusion: Deadpool calls Cable "Thanos" since Josh Brolin played both characters.
  • Adapted Out: Much of Cable's backstory from the comics is left out, to the point a inattentive viewer may miss he is a mutant. Considering that future Firefist is not related all to his origins, this is justified.
  • Ass Shove: Juggernaut gets electric cables up shoved up his anus by Colossus that Yukio electrifies, finally managing to knock him down.
  • Bad Future: Cable originated from a future where mutants are almost wiped out.
  • Badass Adorable: Yukio.
  • Bathos: Wade keeps doing the Running Gag with Yukio even as he is dying thanks to being hit with a bullet while wearing a collar that nuliffies his powers.
  • Darker and Edgier: The film is more serious than its predecessor, thanks to Wade's depression and Cable's backstory that isn't Played for Laughs at all.
  • Disaster Dominoes: If things aren't going Domino's way, her powers cause it to what is standing on her way to suffer an horrible fate. Car accidents, gun mishaps, bus being thrown at you.
  • The Dreaded: Juggernaut is so infamous in-universe at this point that Domino decides to not risk her luck against him, and Cable proposes a temporary alliance with Wade to take him down.
  • Fat Bastard: Firefist is well on the way of becoming one. Ironically, his future self from Cable's future is shown to be thin but is much crueller.
  • Half the Man He Used To Be: Juggernaut rips Deadpool in two. It isn't fatal, of course, but it is painful and inconvenient.
  • In Name Only: Yukio has neither the powers nor personality of the character of same name of the X-Men comic books. The only remaining trait is the fact she is Japanese. This may be yet another by product of Wolverine's time travel.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Yukio is pretty feminine and is the girlfriend of Negative Teenage Warhead.
  • Karmic Death: The abusive headmaster is run over by Dopinder after Deadpool prevents his death at Firefist's hands.
  • Memento MacGuffin: The teddy bear Cable has hanging from his belt used to belong to his dead daughter.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Domino wears a skintight outfit with some cleavage.
  • The Not Love Interest: Domino fits all the criteria, being a beautiful woman that likes Wade despite his nastiness towards her. Of course, Wade is too depressed and in grief of his dead girlfriend Vanessa to care. Deadpool as usual lampshades this by calling her "black Black Widow", a reference to another Marvel superheroine that is known for being close to but is not the hero's love interest(that is, Captain America).
  • Political Correctness Gone Mad: In the middle of all Wade's insane ramblings, a recurring theme is he going into insane social justice rants, saying the X-Men name is misogynist, thinking a dude with the world black as their nickname is actually black, and seeing portraits of dead white men and implying all of them are rapists. Played for Laughs of course. The one time he seems to be going to say something bigoted is a Bait and Switch to actually call Negasonic unbearable and/or ugly.
  • Politically-Incorrect Villain: Juggernaut calls Colossus a "commie motherfucker".
  • Race Lift: Domino is infamously pale with a small black spot on the comics, and Caucasian. Here she is played by an afro-European with only a small white spot on her face instead.
  • Reality Ensues: X-Force dramatically do a paradrop into a city. Most of them die in embarrassing ways from running into the mundanities of urban life, like power lines.
  • Recut:
    • There is an unrated cut with extra scenes and different jokes.
    • There is a PG-13 cut called Once Upon a Deadpool, where Deadpool tells the story to a thoroughly-grown-up Fred Savage as an homage to The Princess Bride.
  • Recycled Premise: The plot down to its very basics of the movie is a conflict between two X-factor carriers trying to stop a mutant of killing a normal human being because it would cause horrible things to happen in the future, with one wanting to spare said mutant and the other wants to kill him. In other words, X-Men: Days of Future Past. Of course, a lot of other details change that the similarity is less obvious.
  • Running Gag: Wade interrupting a conversation in the middle, or Yukio interrupting him, with the two saluting each other.
  • Sir Swearsalot: Deadpool.
  • The Stinger: Deadpool uses Cable's time travel device to save Vanessa and Peter and kill off his X-Men Origins: Wolverine version as well as Ryan Reynolds for reading the Green Lantern script. In the unrated cut, he also kills a baby Hitler.
  • Take That: Some shots are taken at Green Lantern, and even more at X-Men Origins: Wolverine, particularly for what it did to its version of the title character. Deadpool took some at Logan, too.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Enforced. Firefist killing his abusive headmaster leads to the future where he kills Cable's wife and daughter; so the heroes must ensure absolutely this can't happen, and even don't try to intentionally to kill him.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Deadpool got Colossus to start swearing.
  • Truer to the Text: The Juggernaut is seen as far more of an unstoppable force compared to his appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand.
  • Winds of Destiny Change: Domino's power is an involuntary use of this trope: everything goes in her favor no matter how much the odds are stacked against her.
