  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: Moogles will have actual voices instead of making the usual squeak noises from previous Fantasies and Kingdom Hearts.

  • Broken Base: Judging by the comments on the Final Fantasy Answers, the huge amount of characters seen as Expies has only gotten negative reviews. Some say they won't try the game just because of this, others say it's too soon to judge. It's not the first time fans of Final Fantasy choose to hate a game just because of its character design.
  • Complete Monster: Cid. See Moral Event Horizon.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: As to be expected of the series.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Nine and Queen are the two most often featured in fan-fic.
  • Fan Yay: Nine and King, despite being fairly lithe-framed and bishounen, tend to get this treatment.
  • Launcher of a Thousand Ships: Everyone in Class Zero, and we do mean everyone, is heading down this direction.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Cid planning to bomb his own Capital.
  • Nightmare Fuel: There's something unsettling about absorbing your dying enemy as mana. Bonus points for them exploding into red mist afterwards.
  • The Scrappy: Many hate Machina for his Wangst over his brother's death, being cold and often lashing at the Class Zero except for Rem without listening to their reason, being The Mole to his classmates for a basically paranoid council, his Face Heel Turn and his slaughter of his fellow Suzaku (never mind that it's partially because of his memory loss), revived at the end while the rest of the Class Zero students are dead, and effectively become the leader of Oriense without being called for any of his wrongdoing.
  • Tear Jerker: Izana's death. He fails to keep up a brave face and spends his final moments crying as he wishes he could live. Not to mention his chocobo dies with him. And it's just the intro.
    • Dear God, the ending scene where Class Zero chat about their future dreams to comfort each other as they slowly succumb to their wounds. By the time Machina and Rem get there, they are all lying dead in a huddle, holding hands.
    • Kurasame's death, and Caetuna being crystalized.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks: The fandom was initially not happy with the name change. It seems to have died down.
