Mario Is Missing/YMMV
- Ensemble Darkhorse: The policewoman who says "You won't find adobe here in Nairobi!" Comparatively, anyway.
- Excuse Plot: The whole robbed cities part of the story isn't even mentioned in the PC version's opening, and references to it elsewhere are only found in newspapers and Mario's calls (Bowser did it to raise the funds for all the hair driers). Exactly why you have to put everything back in order is never really said. Luigi's just a nice person that way.
- Memetic Mutation: This game gave birth to the "Weegee" meme, due to his somewhat Off-Model portrayal in the PC-DOS version of the game.
- You won't find adobe here in Nairobi!
- But they do have some spectacular hotels.
- Ascended Meme: Nowadays, Baby Mario & Luigi and adult Luigi himself (when nervous) will often use this pronunciation for his name.
- Nightmare Fuel: Toad's wide, blank stare whenever you call him.
- Weegee.
- Retroactive Recognition: One of the people who worked on this game, Wes Jenkins, would become far more well known for being the creator of Lego Island.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks: Compare the NES version with the DOS version. [dead link] That might not be a bad thing, though...
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: How the hell did they mess up Luigi's first starring role, and Mario getting a time machine? And going through geographically/historical significant places on Earth to boot... oh right, educational games. On the bright side, the cut scenes and voicing are So Bad It's Good.
- Of course, Luigi's starring role, Mario and Bowser travelling through time, and sight-seeing on Earth are all done later in a much better fashion.
- Fridge Brilliance: After the release of this game, modern technology started popping up in the Mushroom Kingdom, which had previously been shown to have a medievalist, magical bent.
