- Defictionalization: The Overwatch Anniversary Drip cake which appeared in "Trace and Bake" is not a lie and there's even a separate video shows how to bake it.
- Expy: Of Team Fortress 2, kinda. Since Overwatch's DNA is Team Fortress 2, basically the Steam game was one of the main influences, though there's enough material, uniqueness, and benefits to make both games different.
- Fan Nickname

- "Soldier 69" for Jack Morrison, for an artistic subset of reasons.
- Gender Flip: In the early concept art, Parah was originally a man whose nickname is Rocket Dude. This was changed in the final product.

- Gen Fu decides to go further than fighting in tornaments to save Mei Lin, he wants to also save his cyborg brother.

- Bagheera's intelligence increase during his stay in the moon, so he decided to become an ace pilot/mechanic.
- Trey decides to trade in his bow for a pair of pistols and sport a western cowboy theme.
- Reaper was scheming to overthrow Xemnas and take over Organization XIII.
- Loz became a founding member of Overwatch and a vigilante.
- Coyote Starrk decided to be more social, joins Loz to found Overwatch, and designs their weapons.
- Doing a career change as a scientist, Alucard also became nicer and uses telsa cannons. Though his ultimate ability is Primal Rage.
- Mon Mothma pens an essay which may played a part in the Omnic Crisis and eventually joins Talon.
- What Could Have Been: Titan, a massive online multiplayer, was announced. But by 2013, Blizzard canceled this mysterious game. Instead, it is given a Spiritual Successor in the form of Overwatch.
