Talk:Cannibal Tribe

To expand slightly on the note I put on the page, this article can't decide if it's about cannibal tribes in fiction in general or about a specific genre of Italian films from the 1970s and 80s. It claims to be the latter, but goes wandering and ends up citing non-film and non-Italian examples from time periods all over the map. In my opinion what we actually have here is a category (for the films) and a trope (for the cannibals), mashed together into a single mangled mess.

Bringing this to the attention of the Usual Suspects to work out exactly what needs to be done with this page:

I'll try to help, but unfortunately, my experience with Italian-made grindhouse films is somewhat lacking.

I don't know anything about Italian grindhouse, so my suggestion would be make a separate page about the film genre, and a new trope name with cautionary note about implications.

Looks to me like there should be a split between the trope and the genre, but how to draw that line, I'm not sure.

This seems to be a sub-trope of both Wacky Wayside Tribe and I'm a Humanitarian. The italian cannibal movies should be put on a newly created page called "cannibal movie(film genre"), while this one should have his description rewritten and contain examples of cannibal tribes trying to eat other people which aren't the genre. We just link to the film genre in the live-action film section.

We tend to use categories for genres rather than trope pages, so "cannibal movie" would be the category I proposed.

And I decided to do the work myself. We now have this page as a trope, and Category:Cannibal film for the category.
