Calling this one ready to go out into the wide world. Any objections?
Talk:Loot Boxes
None from me.
No objections from me.
It's been more than a day. Launching.
On second thought, no. The main text needs a lot more cleanup than I thought it did on first glance. Let me take care of that first.
Agree, since I just did a quick tweaking and cleaning, found out that there's some mistakes with the entries, like they don't sound right being read aloud. (Sorry, about changing my answer).
Well, I can't fault giving it more polish first, please do.
Does it look good? Since I was doing a bit of the polishing before GethN7 replied. I even went a bit overboard, I put it under the examples of various games and even gave it a Laconic page (I don't like adding laconic or those extra goodness to under construction tropes, since it's due to suppose a trope doesn't make it out of the workshop?)
Most tropes do make it out provided you put in more than the bare minimum effort, in my limited experience, and you've gone well beyond that. It wouldn't hurt to add subpages once you think you're far along enough.
I just started a major rewrite of the main text, which kind of read like a bot wrote part of it at random. (Sorry, Jade, but it did -- and parts still do.)
That's fine, since the descriptions usually give me trouble. Hopefully, the examples are okay or at least, passable.
Hey, is the page passable? I wanna know so I can start linking the trope page to other pages.
LT's on vacation, but @Robkelk and a few others might be able to help.
I just did a pass for grammar errors, and I think I caught them all. The most common fix was getting plural subjects and singular verbs to agree in number.
Since that was the only hurdle to jump, I'm launching the trope.
Okay, I was just asking to make sure everything's been smoothed out, Robkelk.
No worries.
Hey, the Loot Boxes page is still in the "Pages with Examples Needing Context" category. Is it safe to remove it? Or are we stuck, until someone makes a War Planet Online: Global Conquest.
I'm not into mobile gaming. And it looks like your run-of-the-mill war game with resource management thrown in.
Well I am curious what that means, does it have to do with how most examples has a red links. If that's the problem then make page for them along with some of the tropes related to the pieces of media?
The category is added by the presence of the {{context}} tag, which is used to identify a Zero Context Example -- that is, an example which has no information about why it is an example. If whoever added War Planet Online: Global Conquest would explain what its lootboxes are like, then you can remove the template. Otherwise the example should be deleted outright.
Well, Kuma, I know we can add pages for the others. Since we're interested in those games and anime, so finding the examples that we need will be easy and they'll be filled in a flash; but with the War Planet one, there's next to nothing on the net.
I found the Steam version of the game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/719640/War_Planet_Online_Global_Conquest/
(There's also one bad review stating that it's pay2win or has elements of the sort that pushes into that territory.
Hey, guys, I'm doing redirects but I ran into a mild problem. There's a subscription company called "Loot Crate", should I continue making a redirect? Is someone gonna make a "Loot Crate" page about the subscription box company, if so, what should differentiate both articles.
There's my notes for anyone that needs to look them up.

I tried fixing the description (Managed to find me repeating some stuff, so I fixed that). With the exception of the Planet Online one, is the page ready to go? Or must I find more examples.
The main text at least needs a grammar pass; I gave it a quick glance and saw at least a couple noun/verb disagreements that have to be fixed. Those big paragraphs could probably stand to be broken up into several smaller ones, to improve readability.
And we should find a good page image. There's got to be an iconic pic of a loot box from one of the games infamous for them that we could use.
I made a gif about my first OW loot box opening for this purpose, since I figure that we'll need it, but I dunno how to upload gifs like that. Gif is still stuck in my computer.
Here's my gif, I finally managed to upload it. Link: https://allthetropes.org/wiki/File:OW_loot_box_gif.gif
Oh, nice. Yeah, we can use that.
And if you don't know and can't figure out how to do something on the wiki, just ask. None of this is hidden arcane knowledge only passed on to those who join the exclusive priesthood, after all.
And I've added your image to the page, but currently, thanks to the spate of 503s that we're suffering and whatever they're doing to our images, it's not exactly visible.
I see, but what's funny was that it's visible on my android phone.
Hey, does Loot boxes belong in the "microtransactions" category? Since we can use real money to buy them. I was trying to add more categories.
Sure, I don't see why not.
Oh, and the images came back early last evening, so that's probably why you could see it.
I tried placing this trope page in more categories, did it work?
Did what work? The categories are certainly there.
I was trying to get rid of the "Pages Needing More Categories."
It's a category like the others, already in the page template. You have to remove it manually.
Okay, I was trying to make it presentable.
So, does it read well? I know it's not ready for launch or should I add more games.
I think it's ready.
I'm having trouble finding info for War Planet Online and Halo Wars 2's loot boxes. If the info can't be found, please replace them with different strategy games.
I was talking about "Massive Multiplayer Online" games earlier. Though I can't tell them apart from Multiplayer Online Battle Area games.
MMOs is an generic term for competitive online games, MOBA pits several people in an arena to appease the "2 goes in! 1 crawls out!" crowd.
I'll look into Halo Wars, in a minute.
And it turns out that's what they're calling Halo Wars 2's merchandise: Loot Crates.
I hope ya don't mean this: https://www.halopedia.org/Halo_Legendary_Crate and https://www.lootcrate.com/crates/halo
Because firstly, I was looking for in-game versions of loot crates with Halo Wars 2. But if this is the one that I was searching for, I'd say that this is some 4th wall breaking of the highest order.
Yes, that's the one.
Do you know anything about "War Planet Online: Global Conquest"'s loot boxes?
Aside from the fact that Giant Bomb says that it has them, I have nothing interesting, yet.
You know, for a mobile game that's around 2 years old, there's hardly any info on it.
I tried smoothing it out yesterday and fixing the examples. What else can I do?
