Ordinary High School Student Kasuga Arata wakes up one day and finds a mysterious black sun burning in the sky. No one seems to find it odd... and it soon becomes apparent that something is wrong.
It turns out that this world was an illusion created by a Grimoire that his Childhood Friend had left behind when the Black Sun caused the 'Breakdown Phenomenon', destroying his hometown and all his friends. However, he discovers that the childhood friend who had left him the Grimoire is still alive, and he decides to become a Magus in order to save her.
Tropes used in Trinity Seven include:
- Accidental Pervert: Arata, on occasion. He's remarkably non-chalant about it.
- Anti-Magic: Arata's power
- Big Brother Instinct: The main protagonist carries around a picture of himself and Hijiri that she drew as a child. He's immediately accused of having a sister complex because of it.
- Buxom Is Better: Arata seems to think so. Though smaller ones have their own charm too.
- Chivalrous Pervert: Arata will gladly comment about the hot big breasted loli, but wouldn't kiss her. Yet.
- Deadpan Snarker / Little Miss Snarker: Arin
- Equivalent Exchange: Alchemy is based on it, so overuse can lead to losing one's soul.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Levi's Thema is that of the Invidia(envy) Archive
- Harem Seeker: Arata, sort of.
- Hot Teacher: Lilith.
- Fundamentally Female Cast: Justified. Because magic is a very emotional practice, and men lean to the more theoretical side of things, there are more female mages than male. Not to say there aren't any male mages (the only ones we have seen so far are Arata and the Headmaster), they just aren't as common.
- Ninja: Levi.
- The Nudifier: Arata's first spell.
- Pride: Arata's Thema
- Replacement Goldfish / Lotus Eater Machine : The entire town in the first chapter.
- Rei Ayanami Expy: Possibly Arin.
- Seven Deadly Sins: The archives from which magi can derive a thema from are based on them.
